Zandvoort beckons for all-action British F4 round

Zandvoort beckons for all-action British F4 round

The battle for supremacy in the Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA is poised to resume this weekend (July 26-27) as the UK’s premier single-seater series heads to the home of the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, Zandvoort, boasting a record-equalling 27-car grid.

Kicking off the second half of the 2025 season in mainland Europe, British F4 travels to the Netherlands riding the crest of a wave after enjoying a history-making outing at Silverstone earlier this month, where the series raced in front of 500,000 fans at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix.

Breaking new ground last year by becoming the first FIA Formula 4 category of the modern era to race at Zandvoort, the championship returns to the international stage for a second successive season – emphasising its global status on the single-seater pathway.

Those in attendance will have two home-grown heroes to cheer on too, as both Nina Gademan (Hitech TGR) and Esmee Kosterman (JHR Developments) – two of six females competing – will be flying the Dutch flag around the challenging 2.6-mile circuit over the course of the weekend.

Part of this year’s F1 Academy and a full-time British F4 competitor in 2024, Gademan needs little introduction as she makes her second guest appearance of the season. Kosterman, meanwhile, will hope to make home advantage count as she seeks a return to the points-paying positions.

Up at the top of the standings, Hitech TGR’s Fionn McLaughlin heads to Zandvoort in the box seat, but the Red Bull Junior driver can’t rest on his laurels as his nearest challenger, Virtuosi Racing’s Martin Molnár, sits just 5.5 points behind him.

Both McLaughlin and Molnár have produced superlative performances this season, and it can be expected that they will each be a force towards the front of the field during the weekend. And given the supreme talent of the chasing pack, they’re going to have to be.

Jimmy Piszcyk (Rodin Motorsport) has been a winner three times already whilst Henry Joslyn (Fortec Motorsport) will be hungry to secure what would be a hugely deserving breakthrough British F4 victory. They are both firmly within striking distance of the top two.

August Raber (Argenti Motorsport) is another driver to have tasted the spoils of victory, and he, along with Challenge Cup front-runner Tommy Harfield (Chris Dittmann Racing), will be keen to make their mark towards the sharp end of the grid.

Hot on their heels and bidding to break into the top six is Oulton Park race winner Thomas Bearman (Hitech TGR) and the impressive Adam Al Azhari (Rodin Motorsport), who has triumphed twice already this year.

Further down the entry list and well worth looking out for is Mercedes F1 Junior Ethan Jeff-Hall (Argenti Motorsport), JHR Developments’ Rowan Campbell-Pilling and the Xcel Motorsport duo of Chase Fernandez – a winner at Donington Park – and Theo Palmer.

Elsewhere, Henry Mercier (Argenti Motorsport) will be eager to build on his maiden F4 podium last time out. Rookie duo Xavier Avramides (Hitech TGR) and Cole Hewetson (Xcel Motorsport) as well as Challenge Cup contenders Ella Lloyd (Rodin Motorsport) and Ary Bansal (Fortec Motorsport) will all be eyeing points finishes.

Also on the entry list for Zandvoort is the Chris Dittmann Racing rookie pairing of Alba Larsen and Charlie Edge, Yuhao Fu (Xcel Motorsport), the returning Chloe Chong (Rodin Motorsport), Ginetta graduate Thomas Ingram Hill (Fortec Motorsport) and Oleksandr Savinkov (Virutosi Racing).

The 27-car grid is completed by debutants Emma Felbermayr (Virtuosi Racing) and German ace Arjen Kraling, who will celebrate his 15th birthday the day prior to the event before then going on to make his British F4 bow with Argenti Motorsport.

Qualifying for the C1RCUIT Watches Pole Position Award takes place at 09:30 on Saturday before Race 1 gets underway later that afternoon at 14:00. Two more races – at 10:10 and 14:35 – will then play out on Sunday. All times are CEST.

Fans will be able to watch all three races LIVE on the official British F4 YouTube channel.
