The FIA Formula 3 Championship returned to action on the ups and downs of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, home to this weekend's eighth round of the category. In a closely contested qualifying session, the Trident Motorsport drivers put in a brilliant session. Rafael Câmara set the second-fastest time. Charlie Wurz also qualified well, finishing ninth, two places ahead of teammate Noah Strømsted.
Due to the top twelve qualifying positions on the Sprint Race grid, Strømsted started from second. The Danish driver delivered a remarkable race, taking first place in the very early stages and having no rivals to challenge him, finished first, six seconds ahead of his closest rival after also setting the fastest lap.
Starting from fourth on the grid, Wurz delivered a remarkable race, climbing to third place. Championship leader Rafael Câmara also put in a remarkable comeback, starting from eleventh on the grid and climbing to fifth place. With that result (two cars on the podium, and all three in the top five), the Ossona-based team retakes the lead in the Teams' standings.
With Saturday's race now behind us, the Trident Motorsport drivers will analyze data collected today with the technical staff as part of their usual preparation for the Feature Race, scheduled for tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: "It was a very well-prepared and well-run race by Trident Motorsport and its drivers. Noah Strømsted dominated the Sprint Race, finishing with an impressive margin after a race he completely dominated. Charlie Wurtz was incisive and took third place, while championship leader Rafael Câmara recovered to a solid fifth place, a significant result for the Drivers' and Teams' standings, where we regained the lead."
