The initial heats of the WSK Super Master Series

Confirmations and surprises in the initial heats at Sarno. The remaining qualifying heats will be on Saturday, while Prefinals and Finals will follow on Sunday, February 8th.

Following the morning qualifying sessions spoiled by unsettled weather, conditions at the International Circuit Napoli in Sarno improved significantly. The rain gave way to sunshine quite rapidly, providing the 311 drivers of this international karting event with optimal conditions to tackle the first heats on Friday.

KZ2 – Spirgel and Van Werven share the victories

In KZ2, the French driver Matteo Spirgel (CPB Sport – Sodikart/TM Kart/LeCont) won the first Heat (A-B), while teammate Dion Van Werven (Netherlands) claimed victory in the second Heat (C-D). Pole-sitter Jean Luyet (CRG Racing Team – CRG/TM Kart) from Switzerland dropped back to finish ninth in the first heat. Meanwhile, Italy's Cristian Bertuca (Birelart Racing – Birelart/Iame) executed a brilliant recovery, climbing 13 positions to finish third, just behind fellow countryman Michael Barbaro Paparo (Monster K Factory – Monster K/TM Kart), who had already stood out in qualifying. In the C-D heat, Angelo Lombardo (Maranello Kart – Maranello/TM Kart) delivered an excellent performance to take second, ahead of Sodikart driver Senna Van Walstijn (Netherlands). Max Orlov, the winner of the previous round at La Conca, finished further down the order.

Austria’s Niklas Schaufler (DPK Racing – KR/Iame/LeCont) secured victory in the first heat, ahead of Scotland's Zac Drummond (Fusion Motorsport – KR/Iame) and Dean Hoogendoorn (Parolin Motorsport – Parolin/TM Kart) from the Netherlands. The pole-sitter Jindrich Pesl (Tony Kart Racing Team – Tony Kart/Vortex) finished fourth, while La Conca winner Lev Krutogolov (Energy Corse – Energy/Iame) crossed the line in seventh. The winner of the opening round at La Conca, Brazil’s Antonio Pizzonia (Ward Racing – Parolin/TM Kart), finished in 15th place.
