Oliver Goethe took his first race win in a formula car in the competitive FIA Spanish F4 Championship this weekend (22-23 August) when he crossed the line at Paul Ricard more than three seconds ahead of the competition.

PREMA Powerteam experienced a successful weekend in the second round of the 2020 German Formula 4 Championship. Lining-up for the first outing of their part-time schedule in the ADAC-sanctioned series, the Italian squad confirmed the winning form shown in Misano.

While we will have to wait until October before the Nürburgring hosts Formula 1, the famous circuit in the Eifel will be imbued with a touch of the premier class this weekend when Sebastian Montoya (15, Colombia, Prema Powerteam), the son of ex-Formula 1 driver and two-time Indy 500 champion Juan Pablo Montoya.

The Dutch driver - runner-up in W Series’ maiden on-track season in 2019 - wrapped up the title with one Round to spare by winning two of the three races at the infamous German circuit. The 25-year-old also came from last to third in the reverse-grid race and set the fastest lap in two races for a total of 59 points. Her closest W Series Esports League challenger, Marta Garcia, scored 11 fewer having finished the three races in second, fifth and second positions respectively, meaning Beitske leads the Spaniard by 68 points with a maximum of 63 available in the final round at Silverstone next Thursday.

The start sees Gabriele Minì, winner of the Super Course of the ACI Sport Federal School, keeping the lead of the race, with Francesco Pizzi (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Leonardo Fornaroli (Iron Lynx) and Sebastian Montoya behind him ( Press Powerteam) who maintain the positions of the starting grid.

PREMA Powerteam had a brilliant start in round 1 of the Formula 4 Italian Championship at Misano. The Italian venue featured three spectacular races with the team delivering impressive results with four drivers at their first race in single-seaters. 

The first 3 drivers of both qualifying sessions are Italian: Minì, Pizzi, Fornaroli and Rosso. A lot of Italy in the two qualifying sessions of the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth. Minì (Prema Powerteam) confirms the expectations and marks the best times of both sessions (1'35.121 - 1'34.537), in both followed by Pizzi (Van Amersfoort Racing, 1'35.160 - 1'34.652). In third position in qualifying 1, we find an excellent Fornaroli (Iron Lynx - 1'35.197) and in qualifying 2, Rosso (1'34.752). It is also striking that all the drivers in the lead are Rookies.

The curtain-raiser is just a few days away, and a new season of ADAC Formula 4 is about to start. This coming weekend (31st July - 2nd August), the Lausitzring will be hosting the first three races of the campaign in parallel with the 2020 ADAC GT Masters. Every weekend, SPORT1 will be showing at least one race live on free-to-air TV, and the action can also be followed on SPORT1+. A 15-year-old Moroccan hopeful, Suleiman has shone in karting on most international circuits. His official debut in F4 was disrupted, like all motorsport, by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the horizon is now opening up with the implementation of a new programme in the Spanish F4 Championship within Team GRS.

Zdenek Chovanec will join BhaiTech Racing for the 2020 Italian Formula 4 Championship. Born in 2004, Chovanec is making his series debut after entering the F4 UAE championship last winter. The young prospect will line-up alongside the already announced Sebastian Ogaard and Jesse Salmenautio.

The 2020 ADAC Formula 4 season will open in parallel with the ADAC GT Masters on the weekend of 30th July - 1st August at the Lausitzring in Brandenburg. The total number of events will be seven, just as originally planned. ADAC Formula 4 will be part of the support programme on six of the scheduled ADAC GT Masters weekends, omitting only the Sachsenring and instead of sharing the billing with the ADAC TOTAL 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (24th - 27th September).
