The heat continues to play an important role in this early season of 2020, which has been postponed to the middle of summer. The second Competition of the FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior which is currently taking place at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli in Sarno is no exception. Two British Drivers have shown their skill during Qualifying Practice, Maxwell Dodds in Junior and Taylor Barnard in OK.

The International Karting circus will be in Italy again this weekend as OK and OK Junior are all set to run their 2^nd round of the FIA European Championship in Sarno. The program of the weekend in Sarno will follow the usual format of FIA meetings with qualifying practice on Friday, heats on Saturday and Sunday morning and the two Finals on Sunday afternoon.

Proud to represent his country in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy, Luxembourg hopeful Maxime Furon Castelain fulfilled his mission perfectly at the opening event on the Italian circuit of Adria. Very fast, but also extremely consistent, combative but calm, Maxime concluded his faultless run on the second step of the Final podium. His 2nd position in the provisional Trophy ranking opens up great prospects for him.

The KZ World Champions of 2019, the Birel ART Racing Team has just started its FIA European Karting Championship campaign with a masterful victory by Alessandro Irlando. This success was completed by the third step of the podium for Riccardo Longhi and 4th place for Marijn Kremers at the wheel of his Ricciardo Kart. The Birel ART chassis proved to be just as effective in KZ2. Viktor Gustafsson easily won the Final in the colours of Charles Leclerc with the Lennox Racing team, while Giuseppe Palomba was 3rd!

In sunny and warm weather, the last Qualifying Heats preceded the three Finals on Sunday 16th August 2020. The Swedish Driver Gustavsson dominated the KZ2 Final just as the young American Zilisch mastered the Academy Final. The outcome was more uncertain in KZ before the Italian Irlando secured victory after leading for the entire race.

The weather was beautiful on Saturday, 15th August on the Adria circuit for a hot day dedicated to most of the Qualifying Heats for the first Competition of the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ & KZ2 and the FIA Karting Academy Trophy. The Finn Simo Puhakka dominated KZ with two victories, while Jonathan Weywadt (DNK) and Connor Zilisch (USA) shared the lead in the Academy standings. Four Drivers stood out in KZ2: Danilo Albanese (ITA), Viktor Gustavsson (SWE), Simone Cunati (ITA) and Paavo Tonteri (FIN).

The Friday, 14th August initially experienced stifling temperatures and high humidity. The approach of a storm delayed the running of the FIA Karting Competition in Adria a few minutes before the start of Qualifying Practice. The programme resumed after a one-hour break, in much cooler weather. In the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ, Irlando (ITA) took pole position, while Albanese (ITA) dominated the KZ2 category and Al Azhari (ARE) was the fastest in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

The Kosmic Kart Racing Department did not manage to fully realise its potential in the first round of the OK and OKJ FIA Karting European Championship, in which it confirmed the competitiveness of the Kosmic-Vortex package.

The Birel ART Racing team had prepared perfectly for this important competition and the chassis performance was one of the constants of this meeting, which put the competitors to the test due to high air temperatures.

The first Competition of the FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior was an exciting race under the sun and heat of northern Spain. The fast Zuera circuit was a major contributor to the intensity of the spectacle thanks to its overtaking-friendly layout. Tuukka Taponen (FIN) in Junior and Kimi Antonelli (ITA) in OK only started 9th and 4th respectively in the Final, but they were able to step up the pace to cross the finish line as winners.

After the long interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the FIA Karting Competitions will finally be able to resume with the first of the three FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior Competitions organised in Spain, on the Zuera circuit from 31st July to 2nd August, 2020. The entry list, with more than 180 names, testifies to the motivation of the Drivers and teams to get back on track.

After the morning warm-ups in the two categories of OK and OK-Junior, no less than 20 heats followed one another on the second official day of the FIA Karting European Championship, with the same main theme: very close gaps between the Drivers, exciting duels and plenty of overtaking. At Zuera in Spain, Arvid Lindblad took the lead of the provisional Junior standings, while Taylor Barnard confirmed his pole position in OK. However, we will need to wait until the last Heats on Sunday morning to find out the definitive starting order for the Finals.

It's hard to see the smiles under the masks, but the Drivers returned to International Competition with great pleasure and excitement for the opening of the FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior, organised from 30th July to 2nd August in Spain, on the Zuera circuit. Undoubtedly due to the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic and the difficulty of moving from one country to another for some of them, the number of entrants announced could not be maintained at the level hoped for by the organisers, with a total of 130 drivers present out of the 183 registered. The young Driver Valerio Rinicella (ITA - Parolin/TM Racing/LeCont) was the fastest in OK-Junior and Taylor Barnard (GBR - KR/IAME/LeCont) achieved a magnificent pole position in OK.
