Following three days of action during the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars program at the Franciacorta Karting Track in the North of Italy, the junior’s selection has come to an end. Four talented young drivers have been chosen to progress to the final stage of the program – at the Ferrari Driver Academy in Maranello for the FIA-FDA Karting Scouting Camp. The senior category continues until the end of Thursday.

This year's WSK Euro Series kicked off on the first weekend in September at the Franciacorta circuit, which will host the FIA Karting World Championship - OK and Junior in October. Matheus Morgatto made a convincing comeback in the Prefinal, battling hard with Emanuele Olivieri. It was the young Belgian from the Leclerc by Lennox Racing team, Ean Eyckmans, who achieved the best result with a Final position of 14th.

When many drivers arrived at the Franciacorta Karting Track to take part in the opening round of the 2023 WSK Euro Series, they were already looking ahead to the World Championship in the OK and OK-Junior categories, which will be contested on the same Italian circuit in October. 

The Mondokart.com FIA Karting World Championship - KZ will be held on the Pro Kart Raceland circuit in Wackersdorf, Germany from 7th to 10th September, 2023. The programme also includes the KZ2 World Cup and the 2nd edition of the FIA Karting International Super Cup - KZ2 Masters for drivers aged 35 and over.

The fourth (and final) round of the FIA Karting European Championship 2023 finished with a clear success for their Tony Kart Racer 401 RR in OK, thanks to the performance of their official driver, Luigi Coluccio.

Already the 2022 European OKJ Champion, Parolin Motorsport has just won the 2023 FIA Karting European OK Championship at Cremona with Rene Lammers. Barely 15 years old, the Dutch driver is a pure product of Parolin Motorsport with whom he has spent his entire karting career, since 2019. Trained in the school of 60 Mini and OK-Junior, Lammers certainly showed off his talent this year in OK against the top specialists.

Joel Bergstrom's 13-place recovery in the OK Final and Ean Eyckmans' overall performance in this category were the main positives to come out of the final round of the FIA Karting European OK and Junior Championship at Cremona. With the temperature rising steadily, the young Belgian from the Leclerc by Lennox Racing team achieved some exciting results: 6th in Qualifying, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 3rd and 4th in the heats, 10th after the Super Heats and 10th in the Final. 

Losing an FIA title at the last race obviously makes you feel regret, but at the same time being European Vice-Champions and having many competitive drivers in the OK direct drive top class, above all offers many reasons for satisfaction for the CRG colours. Gabriel Gomez's season was exceptional in the FIA ​​European Championship and only in the last decisive race the Brazilian driver did fail to express himself on podium levels like he did in the first 3 Rounds, when he had often dominated the scene. As in the exceptional race in the Czech Republic, when he got on the top step of the podium, after obtaining the Pole Position and dominating all the Qualifying races. A Heat lost due to a technical problem and an unlucky start in the Final influenced the Cremona weekend, but above all a feeling with the setup and the circuit that has never been exceptional during this appointment. As mentioned, however, the balance of his season remains very positive and being Vice-Champion of Europe will have to be the impetus to go to the FIA ​​World Championship in October among the favorites for the title.

It will be a very "hot" weekend the one we are about to experience on the Cremona circuit and not only due to the high atmospheric temperatures. In fact, the Italian track will host the last Round of the FIA ​​European Championship for the OK and OK-Junior categories, with both titles to be awarded. At CRG there is particular interest in the major category, the OK one, where the Brazilian Gabriel Gomez is currently in P2 in the general standings with 202 points, just 6 points behind the leader Rene Lammers. The battle for victory, mathematically also includes Alex Powell, who is actually in P3 in the standings with 165 points, but in all likelihood, it will be a two-way challenge, which will already start from the qualifying stages with the assignment of the first scoring.

The victories in both Finals of the two European Championship KZ Rounds (in Spain with Jeremy Iglesias and in Italy with Viktor Gustafsson), as well as the one in Wackersdorf in the preparation race for the FIA ​​World Championship again with Gustafsson, place the CRG colors among the most prominent in the first part of the season in the top class with gearbox. To these successes, we need to add the title of European Vice Champion obtained by Jeremy Iglesias and the many podiums conquered in the WSK races, which complete an exceptional outcome for the CRG-TM duo in these first 6 months of the 2023 season.

This past weekend, the Pro Kart Raceland witnessed a glimpse of the upcoming FIA Karting World Championship as the Road to Wackersdorf unfolded. The world's finest shifter kart drivers competed, providing a tantalizing preview of the season highlight in September.
