Who sits on top after heats in Lonato?
In Italy, they say “The night brings advice,” but at South Garda Karting, the night brought results. And significant ones. Thirty-three heats have determined the leaders of the five categories (plus DD2 Masters and E20 Masters), who will give it their all tonight in the Finals of the 2024 edition of the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy.
Mini MAX - Friend responds to Spencer
Albert Friend (Strawberry Racing) achieved a clean sweep, winning all the heats. The Brit beat Nikita Ljubimov (Bouvin Power) and German driver Maxim Becker (C4 Racing). Friday’s poleman Oliver Spencer (KR Sport) finished 7th.
Junior MAX - Ashcroft confirms his form
Jacob Ashcroft (Dan Holland Racing) remains the man to beat, winning 2 out of 3 heats. Ashcroft leads ahead of Dutch driver Ties van Wijk (Bouvin Power) and Brit Scott Marsh, who heads the Strawberry Racing duo completed by Charlie Smith.
Senior MAX - Higgins, what a comeback!
From 11th place in qualifying to 1st after the heats: Matthew Higgins (Dan Holland Racing), one of the championship contenders, is now the man to beat in the highly competitive Senior category. Higgins outperformed 81 drivers, leaving Jayden Thien (Dan Holland Racing) and Elia Pappacena (MKC Motorsport) behind him.
DD2/Masters - Bol and Picot, once again
Enzo Bol (SP Motorsport) and Nicolas Picot (Privateer) confirmed their dominance in the DD2 classes. The two championship leaders are edging closer to their much-coveted goal.
E20 Senior/Masters - Plenty of confirmations
Will Elswood secured a “double,” following up his Friday pole position by staying in the lead after the heats. Alongside him, Swiss driver Gilberto Loacker finished 1st in the Masters.
