The German Kart Championship travelled to the Prokart Raceland in Wackersdorf for its third event of the season. For the first time this year, the weather was a deciding factor. Rain caused shifts among the different championships. Kris Haanen already won the German Junior Kart Championship. In the other classes, everything is still possible before the finale.

With four winners in four races so far, the race weekend promises a lot of excitement. The overall classification is currently led by Joel Mesch.

Four weeks after the kick-off of the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy in Belgium, the European Rotax racers headed for Germany where the second round of the season was held from September 4th to 6th, 2020. Venue was the Prokart Raceland in Wackersdorf which equally hosted the halfway event of the elite RMC racing format. Although the Micro and Mini MAX categories were not part of program this time, over 100 drivers from more than 20 nations entered the second meeting of the year, providing the opening round winners and overall leaders a competitive mid-season event.

The newly developed “Project E20” electric kart from BRP-Rotax is probably the most important “asset” in this year’s DEKM season. “More power, a longer battery life and a reduced weight boost the performance of the German Electric Kart Championship to a whole new level,” says Oliver Schielein, Managing Director of IKmedia, the promoter of the series. During the first test drives, the new e-kart received an extremely enthusiastic reception from drivers. “We now want to ensure that we do not endanger the success of our most important asset by starting off with the handbrake engaged,” says Schielein.

After a long winter break, riders, teams and organizers are looking forward to the start of the German Kart Championship 2020. It starts on the Schweppermannring in Ampfing. The first race of the year will take place in Bavaria from May 8th to 10th. Afterwards, it continues to Wackersdorf, Kerpen, Mülsen and Genk in Belgium.

BRP-Rotax proudly presents its newest development in the e-kart field – the project E20. Having introduced its first electric race kart powertrain called Rotax THUNDeR with its joint venture partner S.M.R.E. / IET in 2017, BRP-Rotax has been developing this new electric powertrain fully in-house. The project E20 was launched at the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Sarno, Italy, where the international RMC karting community was gathered.
