FRECA Heads to Imola for the sixth round of the season: Slater leads with five wins

After a successful weekend at Paul Ricard, the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine heads to Italy for Round 6 of the 2025 season at the iconic Imola circuit. The series, promoted by ACI Sport and Alpine Racing, now enters the second half of the championship with the title battle growing ever more intense.


Freddie Slater (Prema Racing) arrives in Imola riding a wave of momentum, having claimed back-to-back pole positions and victories in both races at Paul Ricard. With five wins so far this season, the British driver now leads the standings with 168 points, holding a 20-point advantage over Matteo De Palo (Trident). The Italian remains a strong contender, having secured three podiums across the last four races.


Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing) holds third place in the championship on 106 points, just ahead of French duo Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP) with 97 and Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix) with 91. Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing) remains consistent in sixth, followed by Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema Racing), who equaled his best result of the season with another second-place finish at Paul Ricard, matching his earlier podium at the Hungaroring.


Akshay Bohra (R-ace GP), who finished third in Race 2 in France, sits eighth in the standings with 68 points, followed by Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix) and Jin Nakamura (R-ace GP) completing the top ten. Among the rookies, Dion Gowda (Van Amersfoort Racing) continues to impress, having been the top rookie in both races last time out.

 

Imola Weekend Schedule

Track activity will begin on Thursday, 31 July with two pre-event collective test sessions: the first from 11:05 to 13:00 and the second from 16:05 to 18:00. On Friday, 1 August, two official Collective Tests will follow at 10:30 and 15:10, with the mandatory drivers’ briefing scheduled for 17:00.

Qualifying sessions will take place on Saturday, 2 August, with Group A on track from 10:10 to 10:25, followed by Group B from 10:30 to 10:45. Race 1 is set for 16:45 (30 minutes + 1 lap).

On Sunday, 3 August, the second qualifying sessions will run in the morning with Group B at 9:50 and Group A at 10:10. The weekend will conclude with Race 2 at 14:05.

As per tradition, qualifying and races will be broadcast live on the official FRECA YouTube channel and on partner TV networks such as ACI Sport TV (Channel 228 on Sky).
