Franco Colapinto to chase Formula Regional by Alpine title with MP Motorsport

Formula Renault Eurocup race winner and 2021 ASLMS Rookie of the Year Franco Colapinto signed with MP Motorsport to race in Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). Colapinto made his debut in the Formula Renault Eurocup last year with the Dutch outfit, taking two victories and nine podiums and finishing third in the championship, as the highest-ranked rookie.

He started the 2021 season racing in Asian Le Mans Series, making his LMP2 debut with G-Drive Racing, where he claimed three pole positions and three fastest laps out of four races; impressing the sportscar racing scene and received the ‘’Rookie of the Year” title.

The 17-year-old from Argentina now returns to Europe, carrying on with his single-seater career in the newly merged series, with only one goal in sight, winning the championship.

“I’m pleased to remain with MP Motorsport for my first year in FRECA,” said the Cockpit Simuladores supported driver. “We are here to win, and I know that MP and I have what it takes to grab our first title. It’s amazing to have a fellow Bullet Athlete on board. Ollie is really quick, and we’ve been working together since last year, so I’m looking forward to making this step. I can’t wait to test the new car and get the season going.”

The FRECA calendar will comprise ten rounds across Europe – visiting some of the most iconic tracks and joining the support bill at two Formula 1 events – including the Monaco GP.

“I’ve been dreaming of racing in Monaco since I was a kid, following in the footsteps of Fangio and Reutemann.” - said the Argentinean youngster. “It’s a fascinating track with so much history and a real challenge as I have never raced at a street circuit before. I am very thankful to Bullet Sports Management and MP Motorsport for making it all possible and to my partners Cockpit Simuladores, Arai and DHG for their support.”

Colapinto also welcomes a new partner on board, as he becomes the latest addition to the ROFGO supported drivers, joining fellow Bullet Athletes Benjamin and Oliver Goethe.

“It’s a real privilege to carry the ROFGO logo on my car," - said Colapinto. "I am thankful for the support, and I’ll give my best to do them proud.”

The FRECA season is scheduled to start on April 24-25 at Spa-Francorchamps.
