Hedfors and Modena Kart crowned champions in the WSK Euro Series; d’Ascoli takes a podium place

Following a double podium finish in the WSK Super Master Series in 2026, the Modena Kart Racing Team has added another line to its already impressive list of achievements by winning the WSK Euro Series. Consistently among the frontrunners at the sweltering Cremona Circuit, Sweden’s Elton Hedfors secured his third consecutive podium finish and was crowned the new WSK Euro Series champion. At the wheel of his high-performance Parolin-TM, Luigi d’Ascoli went from strength to strength to score enough points to round out the top three in the series’ final standings.

Three podium finishes, including one victory and the title, for Elton Hedfors in the WSK Euro Series

Having finished 3rd at Viterbo and then winning at Lonato, Elton Hedfors sealed the deal at Cremona with the help of highly competitive equipment, perfectly prepared by the Modena Kart Racing Team. The Swede started the Final in 4th on the grid thanks to his 3rd-place finish in the Super Heat. His incisive start to the Final enabled him to quickly secure 3rd place on the podium, making him the winner of the 2026 WSK Euro Series.

• Luigi d’Ascoli - Having already finished 3rd in April at Lonato, the Italian battled it out in the leading group in Lombardy, notably impressing with his 2nd place in the Super Heat. Fast off the mark (setting the fastest time in his warm-up on Saturday), he managed to make up the places he’d lost at the start of the Final to move back up to 7th, before lifting the trophy for 3rd place in the series’ overall standings.

• John Han - John unfortunately crashed in his very first heat, before going on to impress: 7th and 5th in the other two heats, 3rd in the Super Heat and then 10th in the Final after climbing eight places, not to mention setting the fastest lap in a warm-up session. The Hong Kong driver could have aimed for a better result had he started from a higher position on the grid. He nevertheless left Cremona in 10th place overall.

• Radu Basescu Pricop - The Romanian showed great consistency at the front of the field: P5 in Qualifying, P4, P4 and P3 in the heats, then P4 in the Super Heat. Radu had the potential to fight for the podium, but an incident in the Final prevented him from doing so.

• Daniel Ferguson - Having just posted three remarkable heats in 3rd, 2nd and 2nd place, Daniel lost numerous places in the Super Heat after a difficult first lap. In the Final, the Briton had begun his comeback before retiring following a collision.

• Ioannis Kolovos - Disappointed at not having achieved the desired result in Qualifying, the Greek driver then went from strength to strength. In fact, he fought his way back to 7th place in one heat after gaining 10 places. He may have regretted being caught up in the collision on the first lap of the Final. However, Ioannis secured 8th place in the WSK Euro Series.

• Danila Verba - Like Kolovos, Danila finished 7th in one heat and was hoping to end on a high note in the Final, but his race also came to an end on the very first lap. There is no doubt he will bounce back soon.

• Vladimir Skorobagach (MON) - The driver racing under the Monaco banner missed out on a place in the Final by just a single point. But Vladimir has plenty of room for improvement, as demonstrated by his Friday heat, which he finished in the top 15.

Analysis by Gabriele Finocchi, Team Principal at Modena Kart

“The concept of ‘team’ is very strong at Modena Kart, and the first thing I’m proud of is seeing that six drivers racing in our colours were among the 36 finalists, even though the OK-Junior category was the most competitive at Cremona with 64 entrants. Vladimir Skorobagach came very close to Qualifying. His progress is only just beginning, and I’m sure he’ll soon be achieving better results. We make sure to provide our drivers with the best possible equipment to help them reach their goals. Of course, incidents during the race can sometimes hinder their ability to perform. I’m thinking of the fast drivers Radu Basescu Pricop and Daniel Ferguson, who were in the top five during the heats. Victory remains our ultimate goal, and I’m delighted to have celebrated Elton Hedfors’ title and Luigi d’Ascoli’s 3rd place.”

Comment from Alessandro Palloni, Team Manager at Modena Kart

“The event was gruelling for the drivers, the teams and the mechanics, with the sweltering heat to contend with. Once again, our technical team, our Parolin-TM Kart equipment and our engine supplier MA Engines have done a tremendous and efficient job. The WSK Promotion series is highly prestigious, and this international title in the Euro Series is a real source of pride in these challenging circumstances. Seeing our two drivers, Elton Hedfors and Luigi d’Ascoli, on the final podium was a great source of satisfaction for us all. The season isn’t over yet, and we’ll keep pushing to secure more podium finishes.”
