Freddie Slater tops running at Zandvoort in Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine
Freddie Slater set the pace in the second Collective Test of the day at Zandvoort, clocking the fastest lap of the session and of the entire day, with a time of 1:30.306. The British driver, representing Prema Racing, confirmed his form on the Dutch circuit by edging out Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP), who had topped Thursday’s afternoon session and ended just 0.123 seconds behind.
The session was once again a showcase of the competitive spirit that defines the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. With 16 drivers covered by less than one second, the field demonstrated both depth and balance among teams, with five different outfits represented in the top 10.
Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing) was third fastest with a 1:30.731, just ahead of R-ace GP’s Jin Nakamura and Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing), who rounded out the top five with strong and consistent pace. Championship leader Matteo De Palo (Trident) ended the session seventh, while his closest rival, Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), slotted into sixth just 0.584 seconds off the top.
Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix), fresh off a podium at Spa, placed eighth, followed by Trident’s Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi. Dion Gowda (Van Amersfoort Racing) completed the top ten with another strong showing, once again emerging as the fastest rookie. A strong result for the home team, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this season.
