The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine returned to the track this morning at Monza for the final qualifying session of the year. The atmosphere was electric ahead of what promises to be a historic afternoon at the Temple of Speed, where the series will contest its 100th race and crown not only the 2025 Drivers’ Champion, already decided in favour of Freddie Slater, but also the Teams’ title, still open between R-ace GP and Prema Racing.

Freddie Slater has officially been crowned the 2025 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine Champion following a decisive performance in Race 1 at Monza, the final round of the season organised by ACI Sport and Alpine Racing. The British driver adds his name to the prestigious list of past champions, joining Grégoire Saucy (2021), Dino Beganovic (2022), Andrea Kimi Antonelli (2023), and Rafael Camara (2024).

It was a triumphant Saturday for the Trident team in the Formula Regional European by Alpine. At Montmeló, the circuit located in the outskirts of Barcelona, the team managed by Luca Zerbini scored a resounding victory in the first race of the weekend thanks to Matteo De Palo. Fastest in his group in Qualifying 1, the Roman driver started from the front row alongside poleman Slater, the championship leader and his only direct rival in the title chase. When the lights went out, De Palo made a sprint-like move alongside Slater along the long straight leading to the first braking point.

It was a tightly contested qualifying session at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with Freddie Slater (Prema Racing) claiming his fifth pole position of the season. The current leader of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine delivered a flawless performance on Spanish soil, arriving with just a three-point advantage over closest rival Matteo De Palo (Trident Motorsport). The Italian driver was the fastest in Group B, after also topping the timesheets in both of Friday’s collective tests. As a result, the front row will see the two main title contenders line up side by side in what promises to be a thrilling and action-packed race.
