Adria launches the grand finale of the Italian ACI Karting Championship

The fourth round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship kicked off the final sprint in the Italian campaign with Palomba and Lombardo taking the win in KZ2, Amendola and Apicella in International MINI, Sardo and Sala in National Mini, Abbate and Megna in Rok Junior, Locatelli and Gaglianò in Rok Senior, Scognamiglio and Al Dhaheri in X30 Junior, as Carenini secured a double win in X30 Senior.

Another very competitive round characterized the fourth and penultimate act of the Italian 2020 Championship at the Adria Karting Raceway before the closing round that will take place at the Circuit 7 Laghi in Castelletto di Branduzzo (Pavia) on October 25th. In Adria, around 200 drivers competed in this event that saw KZ2, International MINI Group 3, National Mini and IAME X30 Junior and Senior on track. The categories Rok Junior and Senior were at the second exit after the round in Siena. Rok Mini and Rok Super competed for the Rok Cup Italia instead.

Palomba and Lombardo win the two finals of KZ2.

KZ2 had a fairly low number of drivers on track due to the forthcoming round of the World Championship in Lonato, but the spectacle on track for the win did not go missing. Giuseppe Palomba came to the fore in the first of the two finals of Adria. He won the final in the closing stages on his BirelART-TM run by Team LG Motorsport after a close battle with the classification leader Simone Cunati also on BirelART-TM Racing of Team Modena Kart. The two were split by just 0.198s at the flag, as Palomba claimed his third win after that in Triscina and Siena. Behind Palomba and Cunati, Davide De Marco on KR-Iame of Team Driver proceeded Angelo Lombardo’s Parolin-TM Racing that lost the podium due to a penalty. Lombardo started the second final from the pole position due to the grid inversion and run to the win. He was chased by a recovering Palomba and by Roberto Cesari on Parolin-TM Racing run by Team Erre Esse, who ended a good race on the podium. Cunati had to retire instead due to a technical issue, De Marco was fourth and led Luca Corberi (Tony Kart-Vortex), who was back to the competitions after more than two years of absence. The other driver of Team Modena Kart, Luigi Di Lorenzo, was sixth. Cunati kept the lead of the championship at 117 points, Palomba reached 109, Lombardo 95,5.

International MINI to the Italians Amendola and Apicella.

As seen in the heats on Saturday, the two finals of International MINI Group 3 were quite spectacular and involved 41 of the most talented drivers on the international scene. Italian drivers locked out the podium in this occasion. Revolution Motorsport’s Francesco Amendola won Race1 on Energy-TM Racing, while Antonio Apicella on KR-Iame of Team Driver won Race2. The American Kai Sorensen on Parolin-TM Racing crossed the finish line of race one on top, but the overtaking move on the Japanese Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR-Iame) of Team Driver was considered irregular and therefore he was penalized and relegated to the fourth place. The victory went to Francesco Amendola, as Emanuele Olivieri of Team Formula K Serafini/IPK-TM Racing was second and the Dutch Thijs Keeren (KR-Iame) of Team Pantano was third. Apicella won Race2 getting the most of the top 8 grid inversion leading the Asian Tiziano Monza of Sauber Karting Team (KR-Iame) and the Pole Maciej Gladysz on Parolin-TM Racing. Was seventh in Race2 recovering 22 places and kept the lead of the standings at 114 points, just one clear of Apicella. The Pole Jan Przyrowski (AV Racing/Parolin-TM Racing) claimed a seventh and a fifth place that position him third in the classification at 101 points.

Sardo and Sala win the National Mini.

Salvatore Alfio Sardo on Intrepid-TM Racing won race1 at the end of a good battle and proceeded Gino Rocchio (Parolin-TM Racing) and Filippo Sala (Team Driver/Parolin-TM Racing). The latter came first In the special classification reserved for the Under 10. Angelo Bruno Blanco followed him on Parolin-TM Racing, who proceeded Giacomo Giusto (Revolution Motorsport/ Energy-TM Racing). Some drizzle started falling soon after the start of Race2 but it did not create problems to the second final that was won by Sala, who led Sardo and Ludovico Busso on Tony Kart-TM Racing of Team Gamoto. Sala led also the Under 10 classification, while Blanco was second and Edoardo Mario Sulpizio on Croc-TM Racing run by TK Kart was third. Sardo confirmed his lead of the standings at 170 points and is followed by Sala at 92.

Abbate and Megna on the top step of the podium of Rok Junior.

After Riccardo Ianniello’s Tony Kart-Vortex run by Team KGT dominated the round in Siena, this time around Rok Junior’s Race1 was won by Antonio Pio Abbate on Tony Kart-Vortex of Team Zanchi Motorsport. He was chased all the way to the flag by Ianniello and by his teammate Andrea Ladina. The fourth and fifth positions went to Giacomo Pedrini of Newman Motorsport (Tony Kart-Vortex) and Davide Marconato of New Technology (KR-Vortex), while the other teammate of Abbate, Leonardo Megna was pushed down to P6 by a penalty. Megna had the upper hand on the wet in Race2 and won from Pedrini to Ianniello, while Eliseo Donno (Tony Kart-Vortex) was fourth and Ladina fifth. Abbate had to retire due to an incident instead. Ianniello is still leading the standings at 90 points and is followed by Abbate at 67,5 and Megna at 53.

Locatelli wins Race1, Gaglianò Race2 and strengthens his Rok Senior lead.

After ending qualifying practice and heats on top, Alberto Bernardi (CRG-Vortex) did not manage to convert his performance into a useful result in the two finals of Rok Senior. The victory of Race1 went to David Locatelli (Tony Kart-Vortex) because New Technology’s Giuseppe Gaglianò (KR-Vortex) was handed a penalty and slipped down to P4. Behind Locatelli, Leonardo Moncini on Exprit-Vortex Locatelli’s teammate Mattia Simonini ended in the order. Tanja Muller was fifth also on KR-Vortex of New Technology. Race2 saw Gaglianò bouncing back and taking the win leading Tanja Muller, while Giorgio Ermanno Molinari was third. Moncini was fourth and led Simonini and Locatelli. Gaglianò pulled away in the classification and reached 79 points. Locatelli follows at 71 and Molinari at 62,5.

Scognamiglio and Al Dhaheri share the success in X30 Junior.

A duel ended two corners to the end decided the victory of Race1 of X30 Junior. Classification leader Manuel Scognamiglio (Team Gamoto/Tony Kart-Iame) won from Rocco Mazzola on Tony Kart-Iame, who was one of the main protagonists of the first final. The third place went to Sebastiano Pavan (Team Driver/KR-Iame). Rashid Al Dhaheri on Parolin-Iame of Team Ippoliti run a good race and ended fourth leading Vincenzo Scarpetta (Team Kidix/KR-Iame), Giulio Olivieri on Righetti Ridolfi-Iame, Francesco Marenghi (Team Driver/KR-Iame) and the Brazilian Miguel Costa (Sauber Karting Team/KR-Iame). Al Dhaheri took an early lead in the second finale and won from Mazzola, who was second again, and Scognamiglio. Marenghi and Flavio Olivieri (Newman Motorsport/Tony Kart-Iame) rounded off the top 5. Scognamiglio increased his lead in the championship at 216 points and is followed by Mazzola at 190 and Al Dhaheri who climbed up to P3 at 108.

Carenini pulls away in IAME X30 Senior.

Danny Carenini (Team Autoeuropeo/Tony Kart-Iame) dominated the scene in X30 Senior. After winning the heats in Adria he won also both finals, pulling away in the standings after an early domination by Cristian Comanducci (Team PRK Pacitto/Tony Kart-Iame). Carenini led Cristian Bertuca, on BirelART-Iame, who was at the debut in Senior, while Jacopo Giuseppe Cimenes (Team CMT /Tony Kart-Iame) was third.

Comanducci ended fourth after a good fight with the chasers of the top three. Gianmarco Levorato (Team Driver/KR-Iame) was fifth and Filippo Croccolino (Team Autoeuropeo/Tony Kart-Iame) was sixth. Carenini won also Race2 after a good comeback race due to the top 8 grid inversion, while Comanducci had to retire due to a contact. Levorato was second, Luca Bertonelli third on TB Kart-Iame due to a penalty handed to Bertuca, who crossed the finish line in P3. Carenini increased his lead in the championship and reached 170 points, Comanducci is second at 117, Russo third at 88.

ROK Mini and ROK Super. Mini Rok’s Race1 went to Enzo Tarnvanichkul (Energy-Vortex) from Griffin Peebles (Parolin-Vortex) to Hernandez Salim Hanna (Energy-Vortex). Peebles won Race2 from Tarnvanichkul to Matttia Prescianotto (Energy-Vortex).
