The Birel ART's of the Lissone factory's official racing service impressed with their top performances at the Sarno circuit during the second round of the European Championship. Alessandro Irlando in KZ and Riccardo Longhi in KZ2 positioned themselves as serious favourites in the double title race.

After the extraordinary Finals, two FIA Karting European Champions were crowned in Sarno after confounding most of the predictions: Jorrit Pex (NLD) won for the third time in KZ and Emil Skaras (SWE) for the first time in KZ2, while  the Finals were won respectively by Lorenzo Camplese (ITA) and Emilien Denner (FRA). In the second of the three Competitions of the FIA ​​Karting Academy Trophy, Oleksandr Partyshev (UKR) took his first victory.

In the wake of his first European top 10 at Genk (BEL), Suleiman Zanfari further improved his score by reaching 8th in the Final at Kristianstad (SWE). His Swedish event was not easy after a strange drop in performance between Free Practice and Timed Practice. The young Moroccan driver showed great determination to limit his risk-taking during the heats before intensifying his effort during a Final climb of 10 places which allowed him to finish 8th out of 91 participants OK-Junior.

The issue of tyre wear was frequently at the heart of the drivers' and teams' concerns during the Swedish Kart Grand Prix at Kristianstad. Already 3rd in the World Championship in OK in 2018 at the Kristianstad circuit, Luigi Coluccio and the Birel ART team have returned to the podium at the Swedish Kart Grand Prix, thanks to determination and great competitiveness. The Italian completed a magnificent attacking race to return to 3rd position after his start from 6th and took the opportunity to return to the top of the provisional ranking of the European Championship. There was also much satisfaction from the other drivers in the team.

To finish the Swedish Kart Grand Prix in style, the last races proved to be very interesting in the Kristianstad sun. The third Competition of the FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior slightly changed the positions and scores of the provisional rankings. The last meeting of the season, in more than a month and a half at Le Mans (FRA), promises to be exciting for the awarding of the titles.

The much-loved Åsum Ring, 1221m long, will be the third of four European competitions this year on a course favourable to spectacular clashes at the Swedish Kart Grand Prix. The very positive memory of the 2018 FIA ​​Karting World Championship - OK & Junior held in Kristianstad augurs well for a high-quality competition in the heart of Skåne, close to Denmark.
