Since Friday afternoon, the Qualifying Heats have followed each other without letting up on the Circuito Internacional de Zuera, which is vibrant with the first round of the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ & KZ2 supported by Mondokart.com. Speed and consistency were the keys to this decisive phase which allowed Senna van Walstijn (NLD) and Freddie Slater (GBR) to take the top positions in KZ and KZ2 respectively.

In Cremona, the Italian chassis took the top three places in the KZ2 Final thanks to Tom Leuillet, Cristian Bertuca and Alessio Piccini. Already a winner in Genk, the Frenchman, therefore, brings a deserved title to the Birel ART and TM Racing brands, as well as to the Leclerc by Lennox Racing team. In KZ, Birel ART was also delighted with another podium for Matteo Vigano, who became the 2022 European Vice-Champion.

The heat wave currently raging in Europe has not spared northern Italy, where the second and final round of the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ & KZ2 and the second of the three rounds of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy will be held this weekend at the new international circuit of Cremona. Sunday's programme has been adapted accordingly. Pedro Hiltbrand (ESP) dominated the KZ class, while Moritz Ebner (ITA) was the leader in KZ2. The battle for the titles promises to be full of suspense. In the Academy, Matias Orjuela (COL) and Thibaut Ramaekers (BEL) are neck-and-neck.

This was again the case in Genk, at the first round of the European KZ and KZ2 Championships.

The first event of the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ & KZ2, as well as the FIA Karting Academy Trophy, will take place from 12th to 15th May 2022 in Belgium at the Genk circuit, the "Home of Champions", a favourite of Max Verstappen. 54 nationalities will be represented, an impressive total due to the increase in the number of drivers in the Academy Trophy in line with the diversity objective of the new FIA leadership team.

The weather continued to be fine in Limburg on Saturday during the Qualifying Heats. The thermometer reached 24° in the afternoon, while the intensity followed the same upward curve throughout the 18 races of the Belgian event's programme.
