The year 2020 is making history – in the German Kart Championship too. Right after the kick-off to the season, the organizers had to react to changes in the racing calendar and are now going to hold the second event of the highest German kart racing series on the Erftlandring in Kerpen too. This time, the German Electric Kart Championship (DEKM) will happen too.

The worldwide Corona pandemic also caused a late start into the season of the German Electric Kart Championship (DEKM). Next weekend, things will get going though: On the traditional Erftlandring in Kerpen, the unique electric kart racing series is going to start into its third season. A newly developed high performance racing E-kart, longer racing distances and an attractive field of participants promise lots of excitement.

After the German Kart Championship announced the relocation of the second race weekend to Kerpen a few days ago, a survey of the participants followed. They wish for the normal driving direction, thus, the second event will take place counterclockwise as usual.

Three weeks before the premiere of the German Kart Championship on the new racetrack in Mülsen (Saxony), the organizer Kart-Club-Sachsen e.V. cancels the event. Despite extensive efforts, the responsible parties were unable to agree on the financing of the event. Now, the second run takes place again in Kerpen, but in the opposite driving direction.

110 drivers from Europe started into the new season of the German Kart Championship last weekend (August 7th – 9th) and experienced a red-hot battle. Winners Kris Haanen (DJKM), Kas Haverkort (DKM), Jorrit Pex, Fabian Federer (both DSKM) and Julian Müller (DSKC) kept the coolest heads.

From August 7-9th, the German Kart Championship is planning to start the 2020 season. But before the engines of the highest German karting championship buzz again on the Erftlandring, it was necessary to adjust to the current Corona situation. Jenni Wade and Björn Niemann presented the DKM racing calendar 2020. Due to the Corona crisis, this also had to be adjusted. The participants can look forward to four thrilling racing weekends. The starting shot is fired at the Erftlandring in Kerpen, then on to Mülsen, Wackersdorf and the final in Ampfing.

After a long winter break, riders, teams and organizers are looking forward to the start of the German Kart Championship 2020. It starts on the Schweppermannring in Ampfing. The first race of the year will take place in Bavaria from May 8th to 10th. Afterwards, it continues to Wackersdorf, Kerpen, Mülsen and Genk in Belgium.

The trade visitors showed great interest in the German Electric Kart Championship [DEKM]. Registrations for the new season are in full swing at www.dekm.de and we hope that our great progress – in particular in the technical field – will convince many young drivers to join our series.

The kick-off to the German Kart Championship 2020 season is going to happen on January 6^th at 12 o’clock with the start of the online registration. Interested drivers can register for the four grade series DKM (OK), DJKM (OK-Junior), DSKM (KZ2) and DSKC (KZ2) on the website www.kart-dm.de. The racing calendar consists of five races spread over Germany and Belgium.

Shortly after the season finale, the German Kart Championship presents its calendar for the year 2020. There will be five races again, spread from May to October. Next to well-known locations, the highest German kart racing series is going to take place on the new kart racing track in Mülsen (Saxony) for the first time.

The participants of the German Electric Kart Championship had to wait nine weeks for the next races. Last weekend (July 12^th – 14^th), the next event took place in Kerpen and numerous spectators got to see thrilling kart racing on the Erftlandring. The international field of participants fought thrilling duels. Guest driver and DTM driver Ferdinand Habsburg stood on the third place of the podium on Sunday.
