Alba Larsen and MP Motorsport continue their F1 Academy adventure in 2026 with Ferrari backing

Alba Larsen will once again take on the challenge of the F1 Academy in 2026 together with MP Motorsport, competing in the support programme of Formula 1. The Danish teenage talent recently joined the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy as a Ferrari junior and is aiming to fight at the front in her second season, following a highly promising debut in the series for a new generation of female motorsport talent.

It had always been Alba Hurup Larsen’s intention to continue with the Dutch team. That intention was reinforced after she crowned her debut season in the F1 Academy with a strong performance in Las Vegas. There, she once again proved to be one of the fastest rookies in the 18-car field: a third-place qualifying result equalled her best grid position of the year, followed by a fourth-place finish in the main race. This brought to a close a debut season in which she scored points on numerous occasions and finished seventh in the overall standings.

The 16-year-old from Roskilde will race in full Scuderia Ferrari HP colours and will be team-mate to second-year driver Nina Gademan. The third driver in MP Motorsport’s F1 Academy line-up will be announced shortly.

“A second season with MP in the F1 Academy was plan A. Our results have only confirmed that decision,” said Alba Larsen. “I love the family atmosphere within the team, everyone has helped me so much. That allowed me to build a strong working relationship with my engineers and mechanics. That will certainly pay off when we line up on the grid with the experience of a full F1 Academy season behind us. I’m looking forward to a strong winter preparation with the team so that we can start well straight away in Shanghai. My goal is to stand on the podium as often as possible!”

“I’m very happy that Alba will remain part of our F1 Academy family in 2026,” said MP Motorsport Team Principal Sander Dorsman. “Her debut year was truly outstanding. We enjoyed working with her and watching her grow throughout the season. I am convinced that in 2026, she will be one of the key talents to watch in the F1 Academy. Despite her young age, I fully believe she is capable of leading our team. Together with the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy and F1 Academy, we will support Alba in her mission to inspire young girls around the world to pursue their dreams.”

Before stepping up to the F1 Academy, Alba Larsen competed with MP Motorsport in the 2024 Indian Formula 4 Championship. One year earlier, she won the fourth edition of the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme, promoted by the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission in collaboration with the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy and Iron Dames.

In addition to being a racing driver, Alba Larsen also launched the Alba Academy in 2024, an initiative aimed at introducing more girls to motorsport. After a successful start in Copenhagen, the Alba Academy is expanding to Sweden, Germany, the USA and China, with the goal of reaching 15,000 girls.
