World champion karter Lewis Wherrell joins KMR Sport for GB4 debut
British youngster Lewis Wherrell will make his car racing debut in the GB4 Championship at Donington Park this weekend (4/5 October).
The 15-year-old from Lincolnshire is a hugely successful karting contender and was ranked first in the FIA International Karting Rankings in 2023. He commenced his karting career aged just five at his local circuit, and is now firmly established as one of the UK’s leading contenders. He claimed his first title in 2021 as he became World Champion in the IAME Warriors X30 Mini division, and was runner-up in the British Kart Championship the same year.
A landmark year followed two years later, as he claimed the 2023 Champions of the Future crown in the OK Junior division, the WSK Champions Cup and the 51° Trofeo delle Industrie.
With further front-running performances in European and World Karting Championships, Lewis is now gearing up for his car racing debut with multiple GB4 title winners KMR Sport, and has already tested the car with the team in recent months. Wherrell will drive the car vacated by Megan Bruce, who has been selected as a wild card entry in F1 Academy this weekend in Singapore.

Lewis Wherrell: I’m really looking forward to making my GB4 debut at Donington Park with KMR Sport. I can’t thank the whole team enough for the opportunity, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do together this weekend.”
Team Principal Kevin Mills: “We’re really looking forward to racing with Lewis at Donington Park this weekend. He’s already shown immense levels of talent in karting, and I have every confidence that he’ll be able to translate that as he steps up into cars with us in the GB4 finale at Donington. It’s a great way to make his debut, no pressure and a great circuit, and we can’t wait to see how he gets on.”
