The new karting season has just begun, and Energy Corse has already celebrated its first victory. At La Conca in southern Italy, during the first round of the WSK Super Master Series, Lev Krutogolov took the lead in the overall standings after his successes in OK in both the Prefinal and the Final. Meanwhile, Matthew Higgins climbed to 2nd place on the podium in Rotax Senior during the renowned O-Plate series in Dubai!

Rotax Karting is all set for the all-important opening round of the RMC South African Kart Championships, and wildcard RMC African Open at Killarney in Cape Town on Saturday 23 March. With karters converging on the Cape from all corners of the country and the African continent, plus incredible action in the regional Rotax races so far, it can only be a case of excellent racing over the weekend.

The 13th Rotax Africa Open will take place at Zwartkops Raceway on 1 October 2023. This event will feature Africa's top drivers competing for an invitation to the 2023 ROTAX Max Grand Final in Sakhir, Bahrain. The final heat winners in each class will be crowned the Rotax African Open Champions for 2023. The program for the event will span across Saturday and Sunday, offering an exciting weekend of racing. The Wera Tools Rotax British Open Kart Championships [17-19 March] is all set to be one of the largest `O plate` meetings in decades, as over 220 entries will head for Whilton Mill for the prestigious event.

The South African Rotax Max Karting Challenge is raring to race once again following its second lockdown laps in two seasons. Club racing already re-starts this coming weekend before the various regional series picks up again through August and then a revised national calendar will resume in September.

As announced in late 2019, BRP-Rotax is collaborating with Chrono Karting BV in organizing and promoting the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Festival. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the 2020 event, unfortunately, had to be cancelled, but for 2021 both companies are excited to host the RMC Grand Festival this summer in Eindhoven from August 20^th to 22^nd.

There is an incredible amount of excitement and naturally some uncertainty since our announcement to join WOMZA. We feel that some perspective at this point will assist karters, teams, clubs etc to get a clearer picture of what is happening and why.

Rotax South Africa is also not supportive of the strategy presented last night as it does not consider the wishes of the karters in general and more specifically the Rotax owners that represent over 70% of all karting starts this season. The proposals are also Gauteng-centric, where we prefer to factor in the voices of all the regions around the country.
