Townsville’s Sun City Raceway has now become a karting community favourite venue after producing amazing racing across round three of the Penrite Australian Kart Championship.

DJM Race Engineering’s Toby Dvorak almost achieved a clean sweep in KZ2 despite finishing with a deflating right rear tyre in the final.  Dvorak won all but one race across the weekend before taking a dominant win in the final.  JND Racing’s Jay Coul crossed the line second ahead of Jac Preston, however, a front fairing infringement for Preston elevated Coul’s Parolin team-mate Reece Cohen to the third step on the podium.

Patrizicorse’s Cooper Folley was unbeaten from qualifying throughout the heats and the final of the weekend in KA2.  The Gold Coaster set the pace from the outset of qualifying and was never headed.  His domination has elevated him into the lead of the Championship standings.  Third-generation New Zealand driver Tommy Hart finished second while third place was decided in the final few metres with Levi Doessel emerging from a five-kart battle to secure the final spot on the podium.

Mika Lemasurier’s dominance in X30 completed a trio of wins for TonyKart.  While LeMasurier was dominant out front, chaos reigned behind him.  The battle for the minor placings was intense before Ky Burke emerged from the final corner in second place.  CXR Racing’s Kayden Thompson was classified third while fifth was enough to ensure Jace Matthews gained the lead in the Championship.

Harrison Hoey was unstoppable again in TaG125 in his TonyKart to claim his second consecutive round win.  FA Kart driver Dallas Greene finished second ahead of Amos Orr while Lenzo Kart pilot Kiahn Burt and CRG driver Tim Colombrita rounded out the top five.

FA Kart racer Benito Montalbano made a welcome return to the winner’s circle in KA3 Senior after an 18-month hiatus.  Last round winner Toby Spinks finished second ahead of Zach Findlay in his Arrow kart, New Zealander Zach Tucker and fastest qualifier Declan Matthews.

Townsville local Brock Nolan secured a popular win in Cadet 12.  After swapping the front running with Hudson Petta and Alana Gurney during the opening half of the race, the Tony Kart pilot steered his way to the front in the closing stages before crossing the line more than a second clear of his rivals.  Petta claimed second ahead of Gurney, Rossi Yau and Felix Sim, both of whom figured prominently across the weekend, finished fourth and fifth respectively.

EKS pilot Jensen Damaschino backed up his win in round two with another emotional victory in KA3 Junior.  Former Cadet 9 and 12 Champion Oliver Williamson claimed second place ahead of Mackay’s Cruz Patroni, who narrowly claimed third over fellow North Queenslander Aston Mills.

Alfi Lucchetti claimed a breakthrough win in Cadet 9.  Harry Lack crossed the line second but was later excluded following post-race scrutineering, elevating Cooper Ottoway into second place and Emerson Mills into third.

The Penrite Australian Kart Championship continues on September 4-6 for round four as the series returns to Hume International Raceway near Seymour in Victoria.
