Karting Australia and our affiliated State and Territory associations have vowed to stamp out unacceptable behaviour at karting events with the launch of Karting Australia’s “Respect Karting” program at the annual Building Better Kart Clubs conference held in Melbourne last weekend.

King of the Streets is one of the most coveted titles that can be won in North American karting and is always one of the headline races at the Xtreme Rock Island Grand Prix powered by Mediacom. This year’s race is August 31 and September 1.  

Kas Haverkort (15) has made the switch to Tony Kart over the last weekend and celebrated a double finals victory in his race debut at the ADAC Kart Masters in Germany. The Team NL talent will complete the rest of the 2019 season on the Tony Kart brand in combination with Vortex engines. The young karter from Heemserveen will race for Kartshop Ampfing / OTK factory from Italy. The first event on the program in the new outfit was the German ADAC Kart Masters at the Kerpen circuit over the weekend, with victory for Kas. Now, the focus is on the World Karting Championship in Finland in the OK class and followed by the KZ2 World Cup in Lonato.

More than 75 attendees were a part of the second Karting Australia Building Better Kart Clubs Conference held in Melbourne last weekend. Club and State representatives from every State in Australia and the Northern Territory, along with members of the karting industry attended the two-day event.

The Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix powered by Mediacom has announced its race staff for 2019, the event’s 25^th anniversary. Rock Island is the only time each year that this all-star team of officials work together.

Iacovacci won the second final of the Adria’s weekend in KZ2 after coming fifth in qualifying and eighth in the first final at the end of a good comeback race. Bizzozero hit by bad luck and DNF both races.

Ragone and Molinari claimed the first Italian titles of Rok Junior and Rok Senior. Cunati strengthened its KZ2 lead as Tonteri and Iacovacci took the wins. Double win in 60 Mini for Kutskov, while Gallo and Trulli won X30 Junior, and Carenini twice in Senior.

After last year's Italian success, the 9th edition of the Sodi World Finals was again held in Italy on the Lignano circuit near Venice from 11th to 13th July 2019. The weather was not always good, but in the end the few showers helped increase the value of the results. The three days of intensive racing of this world event, perfectly overseen by Sodikart with the support of the circuit, was completed by a prize-giving ceremony and a superb gala dinner in Lignano Sabbiadoro, on the Adriatic.

Unstable weather characterized the eve of the fourth round of the Italian Karting Championship in Adria. The double finals for categories KZ2, 60 Mini, Iame X30, Rok on Sunday, July 28th. Live TV coverage on AutoMotoTV from 9.40 for race-1 and from 13.25 for race-2.

A tremendous day of racing at Emerald has setup a blockbuster SP Tools Australian Kart Championship Grand Final at Todd Road in Melbourne on the last weekend of August with four Finals on Sunday decided by mere hundredths of seconds.

Two months away from the 34th edition of the 24 Hours Karting, the ACO and its promoter are finalising the last organisational details of this legendary event where the title of 2019 FIA Karting Endurance Champion will be awarded. Karting will share new displays with the 24 Hours Trucks. While remaining faithful to the original spirit of the great classic of endurance, the ACO and its sponsor have introduced some new features intended in particular to encourage wide participation from enthusiasts. An AM ranking will be put in place for the first time.

The California ProKart Challenge began the second half of the 2019 championship season, hosting Round Four at the Marina Airport Kart Track on July 13-14. The Superkarts! USA regional program took to the home of the Monterey Bay Karters for the two-day event, with practice and qualifying held Saturday, Prefinal and Final held on Sunday. The weather was unseasonably colder, with strong winds dropping the temperature, making the July weekend feel like a winter trip along the Pacific Ocean. The racing was not affected, however, as a number of drivers added to their win totals to help their title chase hopes.

Maranello Kart lived a bitter-sweet racing weekend in Sarno at the third round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship. Francesco Iacovacci has always been among the quickest at the International Circuit Napoli over the weekend. Iacovacci claimed a great P4 in KZ2’s race-1, but an incident in race-2 slowed his title quest down and now he is third at only 27 points from the leader. Great double win for Trefilovs and SRP Racing Team in KZ2 at the Adac Kart Masters in Oschersleben. 

Well represented at Le Mans during an FFSA meeting preceding the conclusion of the European Championship, the official Parolin Racing Kart team was in the public eye once again. Gabriele Minì dominated the OK category and added an undisputed victory to his record while new rookie James Wharton made a convincing debut in OK-Junior.

The second half of the 2019 California ProKart Challenge begins this weekend as the Superkarts! USA regional program heads to Marina Airport Kart Track on July 13-14. The Monterey Bay Karters are set to welcome the leading California karting regional program with the fourth round of the championship series. Located just miles from the coast, competitors will be able to enjoy the cool and clear weather near Monterey, contesting the ‘B’ track layout at just over 1/2-mile long.

After a nine-week break, the season of the German Electric Kart Championship is going to continue (12. – 14. July). 14 young drivers from seven nations are going to start into the next ranked races on the Erftlandring in Kerpen. The championship is currently being led by Berlin resident Luka Wlömer. Austrian DTM-driver Ferdinand von Habsburg starts as a popular guest driver. 

Leonardo Marseglia expressed himself at the very best at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli, winning Race 2 of the ACI Karting Italian Championship.

The Italian driver won Race1 and came second in Race2 closing in on Cunati that retained the lead of KZ2 but was quite unlucky in Sarno. The third round of the Italian Championship has made the campaign lively in all classifications.

The third round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship got underway at the International Circuit Napoli in Sarno with 250 drivers on track. The first interesting results came from the qualifying practice held on Friday. Heats will follow on Saturday, July 6th while the double Finals with live TV coverage on AutoMotoTV and web streaming will be on Sunday, July 7th.
