Sam Dicker has taken his maiden SP Tools Australian Kart Championship victory in the KZ2 class at Hume International Raceway in Victoria on Sunday afternoon, staving off a series of challenges. Dicker became the first West Australian since Jake Klarich in 2015 to win a round of the Championship’s premier class.

Headlined by the five-round SP Tools Australian Kart Championship, the National Karting Calendar for 2022 will also incorporate a new National Series and the Ultimate Club Racer event. The opening round of the Australian Kart Championship will be contested in Victoria on the final weekend of February ahead of a return to the Bolivar Raceway for round two across the Easter weekend of April 15-17.

Growing Covid-19 restrictions and uncertainty forces postponement of Round Four and the rescheduling of Round Five. Karting Australia advises that Round Four of the 2021 SP Tools Australian Kart Championship presented by Castrol EDGE has again been postponed.

Firstly, thank you to everyone who competed and officiated at Round 2 of the 2020 SP Tools Australian Kart Championship presented by Castrol EDGE at the Newcastle Kart Racing Club last weekend. After having Club and State Championship level back across the majority of the country for some time, it was great to have National Championship level competition running again in these very challenging times.

Karting Australia’s Licence holders are flocking back to their local circuits as Club Level racing kicks back into gear across the country. The Northern Territory and Western Australia were the first two regions to host Club events last month, over the past couple of weeks Victoria, South Australia and more recently New South Wales and Queensland have returned to racing.

With the situation changing rapidly with the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic & with State Government laws about closing borders and not allowing interstate competitors to compete, we have had to cancel the IAME Series Australia planned this year.
