Sauber Academy is set to further expand its roster of young talents in 2024, as Zane Maloney is announced as the latest inductee of the team’s driver development programme. The young Barbadian will also take on the role of Reserve Driver for Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber at several Grands Prix during the 2024 Formula One season, sharing the duties with fellow Sauber Academy driver, Théo Pourchaire.

Williams Racing Academy Driver Zak O’Sullivan will take part in the first Free Practice session at the 2023 Formula 1® Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The 2023 Formula 3 Vice Champion will get behind the wheel of Alex Albon’s FW45 at Yas Marina Circuit for the hour session. Zak’s outing, his first in the FW45, fulfills the team’s second and final mandated rookie driver session this season.

MP Motorsport's Formula 2 and 3 teams travelled to Monza this weekend as support series of the Formula 1 circus. For the Formula 3 team this was the season finale, which could not have gone better for the team from the Netherlands.  The qualifying session on Friday was a tricky one, due to numerous red flags it was decided that the session would not be finished with 10 minutes to go. As a result, Jonny Edgar qualified fourth, which was his best result this season. Mari Boya and Franco Colapinto finished in 15th and 16th positions, but disqualifications promoted them to P11 and P12.

A tight and spectacular sprint race handed PREMA Racing a double points finish at Red Bull Ring as the FIA Formula 2 Championship rounded out its first weekend of the year. After cruising to his first series podium in race 1, Robert Shwartzman took fourth place making the most of the situation on the Austrian circuit. Once again, having trains of cars on DRS made attacking really difficult, and the lengthy safety-car situations added up to that. The 20-year-old Russian exits the weekend second in championship points.

French racing driver Anthoine Hubert (22 September 1996 – 31 August 2019) died today after a major crash in the Formula 2 at the track of Spa-Francorchamps during the Belgium Grand Prix-weekend. Hubert was involved in a serious crash with Juan Manuel Correa on lap 2 of the 2019 Spa-Francorchamps Formula 2 feature race. After being transported to the circuit medical center post-crash, he died from his injuries. Like many young drivers, Hubert started his career in karting.
