FIA Formula Regional European Championship pre-season testing ends at the Red Bull Ring

Marcus Saeter (G4 Racing) sets the fastest time across the two days in Austria

The second and final day of testing held at the Red Bull Ring on Easter Sunday brought to a close the three pre-season tests of the FIA Formula Regional European Championship, which had kicked off at the end of March at Germany's Hockenheim circuit before moving on to Paul Ricard and, finally, Austria.

All 10 teams set to compete in the upcoming season took part in the six days of collective testing, with the full field running on track simultaneously in the Tatuus T-326, the second-generation Formula Regional car, gathering valuable data ahead of the new campaign.

Across the six days of testing at Hockenheim, Paul Ricard and Red Bull Ring, the 30 drivers on track completed a total of 7,992 laps, covering more than 38,660 kilometres in different weather conditions.

Marcus Saeter ended the test on top at Spielberg, thanks to a best time of 1:25.385 set during the morning session of the second day, with the top 28 drivers covered by less than one second on that occasion. The G4 Racing's Norwegian driver also set the fastest time in the afternoon session of day one, while his team-mate Saqer Almaosherji was quickest in the morning. MP Motorsport’s Sebastian Wheldon topped the timesheet in Sunday’s final session.

Attention now turns to the 24-26 April weekend, when the FIA Formula Regional European Championship field will return to action for the opening round of an eight-event calendar on the Styrian circuit.
