The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine officially kicked off its third race weekend of the 2025 season at Circuit Zandvoort, with the first Pre-Event Collective Test taking place this morning under dry conditions. Despite the looming clouds and a steady breeze sweeping across the North Sea dunes, the track remained dry throughout the 90-minute session, allowing all 26 drivers to gather valuable data on one of the calendar’s most challenging venues.
Topping the timesheets was Nikita Bedrin (Saintéloc Racing), who set the benchmark with a lap time of 1:31.051, confirming his strong pace from previous rounds. Just 0.014 seconds behind was Kanato Le (ART Grand Prix), while Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing) secured the third-fastest time, just over six hundredths off the top.
Championship contender Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix) showed promising pace with the fourth-best time, but his session was cut short due to an off-track excursion at Turn 7 that brought out the second and final red flag, ending the test a few minutes early. The first red flag had occurred earlier in the session, briefly halting proceedings before drivers returned to the track.
Dion Gowda (Van Amersfoort Racing) followed in fifth place, while ART’s Taito Kato, fresh from a podium finish at Spa, secured the sixth-fastest time. Freddie Slater (Prema Racing), Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing), Jin Nakamura (R-ace GP), and Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP) rounded out the top ten, all within half a second of the leader. The tight margins continued throughout the field, with the top 12 drivers separated by less than one second, demonstrating the fierce competitiveness of this year’s grid.
Track action will resume later this morning with the second Pre-Event Collective Test session, scheduled to begin at 11:30 AM.
