The second round of the ACI Italian Karting Championship ended with another victory for the Modena Kart Racing Team in the OK-N Junior class. Ioannis Kolovos put in an impressive, flawless performance, securing 1st place from pole position in the Final, having won all three heats and the Super Heat. Nikita Dzhalilov (P5) and Radu Basescu Pricop (P7) rounded off the Italian team’s excellent overall result with their Parolin-TM Kart combination.

A magnificent line-up of 13 drivers

The Italian Championship confirmed its success in 2026. The OK-N and OK-N Junior categories, in which the Modena Kart Racing Team was competing, accounted for a significant proportion of the 282 drivers racing in southern Italy. The competition was fierce, and the standard high, but the team’s expertise and hard work led to victory.

Ioannis Kolovos wins it all!

In fine, warm weather, the Greek driver set the pace at the front of the OK-N Junior field with great skill and control. He confirmed his pole position by winning all three heats. He showed no nerves in the Super Heat or the Final, leading from the first to the last lap and setting the fastest lap of the race. A perfect performance! Ioannis Kolovos has now moved up to 2nd in the overall standings.

Nikita Dzhalilov and Radu Basescu Pricop also put in a solid Final, finishing 5th and 7th, respectively. Another driver to make progress was Ruzgar Evci, who climbed to 13th place. Federico Mirabella had a difficult start to the weekend before showing his competitiveness to earn his place in the Final. Raffaele Mini, Luigi d’Ascoli, Tommaso Corsi and David Di Filippo experienced ups and downs, but never gave up.

There were 80 drivers racing in OK-N! In this context, well done to Ate Birinci and Ballik Kaan for reaching the Final. Kayol Sarp and Emil Peteri were unlucky, but have made significant progress within the Modena Kart Racing Team.

Analysis by Gabriele Finocchi, Team Principal of Modena Kart

“Two races, two podiums! Following Luigi d’Ascoli’s performance at Lonato, congratulations to Ioannis Kolovos on his victory at La Conca. The Italian Championship is offering a very high standard of competition this season, and it is very satisfying to see that our team has risen to the top of the standings. Many of our drivers have shown a remarkable level of performance in OK-N Junior, and progress is being made in OK-N.”

Commentary from Alessandro Palloni, Team Manager at Modena Kart

“On the difficult and demanding circuit at La Conca, the Modena Kart Racing Team has demonstrated that it remains a major force in the OK-N Junior category. We have very competitive engines with MA Engines, backed by a very strong package: Parolin chassis, driver coaching, data analysis and, of course, top-class technicians. This bodes well for the future and the rest of the season.”
