The World Championship event in Franciacorta will undoubtedly remain one of the most memorable FIA Karting events of recent years. All the ingredients were there: ideal weather conditions for the season in northern Italy, a magnificent field of 250 drivers, non-stop action on the track, a large audience around the track and watching the live stream, and superb organisation masterfully led by the Franciacorta Karting Track team. Three drivers enjoyed a great first. Dutchman Senna Van Walstijn won the Mondokart.com FIA Karting World Championship - KZ, Maksim Orlov dominated the FIA Karting World Cup - KZ2 and Angelo Lombardo held off Davide Fore in the FIA Karting International Super Cup - KZ2 Masters.

Unsettled weather conditions made the KZ World Championship, held at Portimao in southern Portugal, extremely difficult. Qualifying was run on rain tyres that were particularly difficult to understand and use, and the KR Motorsport team were unable to get to the front of the field straight away. In the second half of the event, however, the team's performance on a dry track was clearly up to scratch, with Stan Pex, Danilo Albanese and Paolo Ippolito all making it into the top 10.

On Friday 11th October, the KZ categories battled it out on the wet track of the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve for Qualifying Practice. Dutchman Senna Van Walstijn took pole position in the Mondokart.com FIA Karting World Championship - KZ, Italian Cristian Bertuca took pole position in the FIA Karting World Cup - KZ2 and Brazilian Andre Nicastro set the fastest time in the FIA Karting International Super Cup - Masters.

On the Wackersdorf circuit, due to a first lap featured by a crash involving several protagonists including Tony Kart driver Tom Leuillet, the Tony Kart Racing Team is unable to go beyond the 5th place finish in the FIA Karting World Championship.
