The American claimed victory in the opening race of the second round of the FIA Formula Regional European Championship after setting the pace in Thursday’s collective tests, topping Friday’s free practice sessions and securing pole position in Qualifying 1.

Young Anglo-American racer Sebastian Wheldon has signed with MP Motorsport to complete its three-car FIA Formula Regional European Championship (FREC) line-up. The 17-year-old from St. Petersburg, Florida, is moving up the ladder for only his second full season in European single-seater racing.

FIA Formula Regional European Championship wrapped up two highly productive test days at Circuit Paul Ricard, with all 10 teams expected on the 2026 grid out in force ahead of the season opener at the end of April.

FIA Formula Regional European Championship officially gets underway with the opening pre-season test at Hockenheim, scheduled for today, Tuesday, 24 March, and for Wednesday.
