Qualifying practice and initial heats of the WSK Euro Series have been run in Cremona

Qualifying practice and the initial heats of the second and decisive round of the WSK Euro Series have been run at the Cremona Circuit. The final heats will follow on Friday, while the Finals with TV Live Streaming coverage will be on Saturday.


The second and decisive round of the WSK Euro Series has entered the heart of the weekend at the Cremona Circuit with the official qualifying practice sessions and the first heats, which immediately highlighted the main protagonists of the championship categories.


Despite the intense heat, with peaks of 37-38 degrees Celsius, the drivers from 53 nationalities present at this major international event performed at their best as usual, giving rise to a great sporting and technical battle that will culminate on Saturday, July 5th, with the awarding of titles in the OK, OKJ, OK-N, OK-NJ, MINI Gr.3, and MINI U10 categories.


After the first round in Viterbo on May 17th at the Leopard Circuit Viterbo, the championship standings are led by the Spaniard Christian Costoya (Parolin Motorsport) in OK, the Briton Domain Henry (Forza Racing) in OKJ, the Italian Manuel Scognamiglio (Tellone Motorsport) in OK-N, the Chinese Huifei Xie (Team Driver) in OK-NJ, the Swede Elton Hedfors (Parolin Motorsport) in MINI Gr.3, and the Caribbean Wynn Godschalk (Team Kidix) in MINI U10.

MINI Gr.3 – The second pole position in a row for Rea.

Once again, Achille Rea (Birelart Racing – Birelart/TM Kart/Vega), second in the championship, proved to be the fastest in practice. The Italian driver, who also secured pole position in Viterbo, set a time of 52.314 in the first of two qualifying sessions, ahead of the current championship leader, Swede Elton Hedfors (Parolin Motorsport – Parolin/TM Kart) by 0.292. In the second session, the best time was set by Stepan Mazepin (SM Racing – Gillard/TM Kart) with 52.789, with Frenchman Jean Poujol (Tony Kart Racing Team – Tony Kart/Vortex) just 19 thousandths behind.



 

MINI Gr.3 qualifying

1st Achille Rea (ITA) (#557 Birelart Racing – Birelart / Tm Kart) 52.314s Gr.1

2nd Stepan Mazepin (/) (#517 SM Racing – Gillard / TM Kart) 52.789s Gr.2


Initial heats – Victories to Rea and Hedfors.


In the two initial heats of MINI Gr.3, A-B and C-D, victories went respectively to Achille Rea, who dominated his first heat, and to Elton Hedfors after a penalty inflicted on Jean Poujol.

 

MINI U10 – El Gahoudi surprises all.

In MINI U10, Nahyl El Gahoudi (BabyRace – Parolin/Iame/Vega) surprises in the second session with the best overall time of 53.133s. The young Moroccan driver, fifth in the championship standings, was 44 thousandths faster than the American Josh Bergman (Kidix – KR/Iame), who prevailed in the first session with 53.177s. The Italian Daniel Pasquali (CRG Racing Team – T-Group/TM Kart) was just 2 thousandths behind the American. The current championship leader, the Caribbean Wynn Godschalk (Team Kidix – KR/Iame), is currently further back, with the ninth fastest time at 0.385.



 

MINI U10 qualifying:

1st Josh Bergman (USA) (#526 Kidix – KR / Iame) 53.177s Gr.1

2nd Nahyl El Gahoudi (MOR) (#519 BabyRace – Parolin / Iame) 53.133s Gr.2


Initial heats - Steindal and Kovtunenko have the upper hand.


In heat A-B, the Norwegian Teo Steindal (Monster K Factory – Monster K / TM Kart) got the better of Nahyl El Gahoudi in the final laps, while in heat C-D, Platon Kovtunenko prevailed in a sprint finish over Daniel Pasquali.

 

OK-NJ – Tamm and Girardello set the pace.

The Swiss driver Albert Tamm (Modena Kart – Parolin / TM Kart) secured pole position in OK-NJ with the best overall time in Group 1, clocking 47.777s, 54 thousandths of a second ahead of the Canadian Rocco Simone (Kidix – KR / Modena Engines). In Group 2, the Swiss driver's teammate, the Italian Gioele Girardello, who is second in the championship tied on points with Tamm, achieved the best time and the second overall performance with 47.812s, ahead of Prokhor Solukovtsev (Team DR – DR / Modena Engines) by 0.284s. The championship leader from China Huifei Xie (Team Driver – KR / Iame), is slightly behind, with the fourth fastest time in Group 1 at 0.186s.



 

OK-NJ qualifying:

1st Albert Tamm (SUI) (#719 Modena Kart – Parolin / TM Kart) 47.777s Gr.1

2nd Gioele Girardello (ITA) (#721 Modena Kart – Parolin / TM Kart) 47.812s Gr.2
 

Initial heats – Tamm and Simone dominate


In heat A-B, Albert Tamm secured the victory over Michele Orlando (Team DR – DR / Modena Engines) with a comeback, and Gioele Girardello finished third. In heat C-D, Rocco Simone won ahead of Huifei Xie and Prokhor Solukovtsev.

 

OKJ – Zulfikari shines.

The cards are a bit shuffled in OKJ, where the championship leader, the British driver Henry Domain (Forza Racing – Exprit / TM Kart / Vega), who set the 13th fastest time in practice, is answered by his teammate, the Turkish driver Iskender Zulfikari, with the fastest overall time and first in the second group at 47.279s, which is 53 thousandths ahead of Spanish driver Daniel Miron Lorente (DPK Racing – KR / Iame). In Group 1, the fastest was the Spanish driver Bosco Arias (Ricky Flynn – LN Kart / TM Kart) at 47.465s, with an 80 thousandths advantage over the Italian driver Valerio Viapiana (Team Driver – KR / Iame).

Initial heats – Zulfikari and Miron are the winners.
 

In the first heat A-B, Iskender Zulfikari dominated the scene. In the second heat C-D, Daniel Miron Lorente maintained the first position ahead of Valerio Viapiana.

 

OK-N – Scognamiglio is the absolute leader.

Manuel Scognamiglio (Tellone Motorsport – KR / Iame / Vega) confirms his blistering pace in Cremona after his pole position and victory in the Viterbo Final. The Italian driver secured pole position with a time of 47.721s in the single session, ahead of the Canadian Zachary Taylor (KGT Motorsport – Tony Kart / Vortex) by 0.156s, the Finnish driver Mike Parhiala (Kohtalia Sports – CS55 / Vortex) by 0.221s, and the Italian Nicolas Marchesi (Team Driver – KR / Iame) by 0.243s. The Italian girl Luisa Maria Della Pietra (Team Driver – KR / Iame) was also very fast, with the seventh fastest time at 0.411s.    



 

OK-N qualifying:

1st Manuel Scognamiglio (ITA) (#828 Tellone Motorsport – KR / Iame) 47.721s.


First heat – A super Scognamiglio.


Manuel Scognamiglio won the first heat. The other protagonists of the single heat run on Thursday included Mike Parhiala, who ended second ahead of Nicolas Marchesi and Zachary Taylor. Nicholas Tomasella (MLG Racing – Parolin / TM Kart) was fifth, and Luisa Maria Della Pietra sixth.


OK – Costoya dominates.

In OK, the dominance of Christian Costoya (Parolin Motorsport – Parolin / TM Kart / LeCont) continues. After prevailing in Viterbo, he maintains his excellent performance in Cremona, setting the best time in practice at 46.907. The Spanish driver was 0.118 ahead of South African William Marshall (Ward Racing – Tony Kart / TM Kart), 0.156 ahead of Filippo Sala (Forza Racing – Exprit / TM Kart), currently second in the championship, and 0.251 ahead of the Italian driver's teammate, German Osman Amin Kara. Fifth fastest was Swede Oliver Kinnmark (Koski Motorsport – KR / Iame).



 

OK qualifying:

1st Christian Costoya (ESP) (#201 Parolin Motorsport – Parolin / TM Kart) 46.907s.


First heat – Costoya leads.


There was also a single heat for OK. Christian Costoya did not miss the victory, while Filippo Sala finished second and Oliver Kinnmark third. William Marshall was forced to retire at the start of the race.
