Podium for Vortex at the Champions of the Future in Rodby
In the fourth round of the Euro Series in Denmark, the OTK Kart Group's engine division won second place in the OK category final with the VTS engine.
OK – The Vortex VTS is among the main protagonists of the “Senior” category, which sees more than eighty drivers at the starting grid. Already in the qualifyings, the OTK Kart Group's “engine division” is at the top of the standings with Jindřich Pešl (Tony Kart Racing Team) second in group 1 and Thomas Pradier (Tony Kart Racing Team) fourth in group 2. The two drivers subsequently achieved four wins, six top-3 finishes, and a fast lap in the qualifying heats, allowing them to start from the second and third rows in Saturday afternoon's final.
In the last and most important race of the weekend, the VTS engine is fighting for victory: an excellent start allows Pešl to jump to third place, followed by his teammate Pradier. In the following laps, the French driver gains the second position and fights for victory until the checkered flag. The Czech driver, on the other hand, finishes the race just outside the top five.
Oliver Rasmussen (Tony Kart Racing Team) is also lined up at the start of the final, but an accident on the first lap prevents the home driver from finishing the race.
OKJ – Many drivers show off with the Vortex VTJ in the “Junior” category, which feature over ninety entrants at the chrono practices already: Ilie Tristan Crisan (Tony Kart Racing Team), Gilles Philippe Herman (Tony Kart Racing Team), and Oliveri Sini (Tony Kart Racing Team) all occupy places in the top 10.
These three drivers, together with Julian Frasnelli (Tony Kart Racing Team), Antonio Reginaldo Pizzonia Neto (Tony Kart Racing Team), Henri-Constant Kumpen (Tony Kart Racing Team) and Sebastian Eskandari-Marandi (Ward Racing), enable the VTJ engine to close the qualifying heats with three wins, six top-3 finishes and seven fastest laps. Furthermore, in Super Heat B, Vortex wins with a double victory for Crisan and Sini, while in Super Heat A, it sets the provisional lap record for the event with Mateo Rivals (Tony Kart Racing Team).
Thanks to such premises, the Vortex VTJ is a candidate for a leading role in the final. An unlucky start for Crisan forces him to give up several positions, unlike Sini who, with a very good jump, manages to take the second place after the first few corners. At the end of the race, Crisan and Sini finishe in the top ten, ahead of Frasnelli and Herman.
