The move from two to three competitions in the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship for the KZ and KZ2 categories has been requested by many drivers and teams for this season. With their powerful 125cc engines with gearboxes and Dunlop 'prime' tyres, they offer very high performance and should guarantee the maximum spectacle for the opening event on the Lucas Guerrero international circuit, located at Chiva near Valencia. It will also be the first of three competitions for the Junior Academy Trophy, which will be celebrating its 16th season!

After extremely competitive Qualifying sessions, pole positions were awarded to Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand in KZ, Maksim Orlov in KZ2 and Mexican Luis Fer Nunez in the Junior Academy. The Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship for gearbox categories and the FIA Karting Academy Trophy got off to the best possible start.
 

The heats end with final phase qualification on Saturday 17th May. Prefinals from 9:50am and Finals from 1:30pm on Live TV Streaming.

Hitech TGR's Deagen Fairclough was fastest for the second successive session on Friday afternoon, but after topping session two by three thousandths of a second, it was even closer in the final practice, as the Brit led Patrick Heuzenroeder by 0.002s this time around.

Hitech TGR's Deagen Fairclough and Rodin Motorsport's Alex Ninovic were separated by just three thousandths of a second in the second Friday Free Practice session at Zandvoort.
