The 30th running of the Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix, the world’s largest and most prestigious karting street race, this year will feature 20 races on the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend, August 30-31. Admission is free to this family-oriented event.

With kart racing set to kick off in a few months across Ontario, KartStars Canada eagerly unveils their 2024 calendar. The dates have been finalized after careful deliberation by KartStars Principals amidst Ontario’s bustling karting scene. The fifth instalment of the program will feature visits to three different tracks over four race weekends.

Registration is now open for the 28^th running of the Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix, the world’s largest and most prestigious karting street race, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2-3.

The 27^th running of the Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix, the world’s largest karting street race, this year will feature 18 racing classes. Admission is free to this family-oriented event. Racing is schedule for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day with morning practice and afternoon qualifying heat races on Saturday, followed by practice, opening ceremonies and 18 feature races Sunday.

It is a common thought among professionals that practiced karting is increasingly becoming an exclusive sport for a few wealthy. This discipline is betraying its origins, a simple and ideal “racing” vehicle to offer the emotions of the track to a wide audience. Unfortunately, also thanks to the increasingly rapid path to motorsport that can be practiced at the age of 15, everything has become more competitive, extreme.

A year ago at this time the operations team at KartSport Canada was thrilled to introduce its new vision for karting, as they looked to the past in shaping the future. The programme was well planned with staging for the season-opening event well underway when – enter a global pandemic. All in motorsport were then forced to pump the brakes, yet from the darkest of days came an opportunity to shine bright. The team rallied to produce a four-event debut campaign, one that was very well received by the karting community.

A highlight of the karting calendar each year in this country is finding out which Canadian karting stars will represent the Maple Leaf overseas versus international competition as members of Team Canada, and which drivers will be crowned National Champions. Traditionally held each August, we are very pleased to confirm this season will be no different, as Goodwood Kartways has paired up with KartStars Canada to organize and promote the KartStars Canada National Karting Championships, to be held the week of August 14th to 16th.
