Championships, ROK Superfinal Tickets and ROK the RIO Entry Packages on the Line in WKA Charlotte Events
As part of the WKA Mid-Season Shootout, the competitors gaining the most cumulative points in Mini ROK, Junior ROK, Senior ROK and ROK Shifter after the Orlando, Florida, and two Charlotte, North Carolina events will receive ROK Cup Superfinal invitations. The rule that classes must average ten entries to receive these invitations has been removed ensuring that all class champions from these respective divisions will be headed to Italy as part of the WKA and ROK Cup USA partnership.
All the top finishers from Orlando are now in a fight for the Junior ROK ticket to Italy. With a great battle in Orlando, Connor Zilisch, Nikita Johnson, Paul Bocuse, Jack Jeffers, Thomas Annunziata and Jeremey Fletcher engaged in a championship battle that could earn them a position on Team USA. With Zilisch already earning a ticket through the Florida Winter Tour, the ROK Cup Superfinal ticket to any other driver will be on the line in North Carolina. With back-to-back events at Charlotte, it will be key to not only have speed and finish at the front, but also show consistency as the pressure mounts in the final rounds of the WKA Mid-Season Shootout.
Similar to Junior ROK, Senior ROK competitors including Luca Mars, Sammy Ruck, Gunnar Bischoff, Jarrett Voorhies, Jason Holycross and Daniel Siegel are all in contention to earn themselves a championship invite to compete overseas. The Mini ROK division will be led by Christian Quijano, Kaleb Ranella and Rodney Dowless as the trio holds a point advantage coming into Charlotte but will need strong finishes to see if they can claim the title. With only one event weekend of three complete, a driver entering both events at Charlotte can control his or her own destiny with a pair of race wins.
With both the first and second place championship drivers of Andrew Budjoso and Annie Rhule forced to miss the upcoming event to prior obligations, the ROK Shifter Superfinal ticket is up for grabs and the championship is wide open. With competitors gaining the most cumulative points in Micro ROK, Junior 100cc, Senior 100cc and ROK Masters after the three events earning a 2020 ROK the RIO entry package, a lot is up for grabs in Charlotte. Jorge Ortiz, Danny Dyszelski, Camryn Reed, Connor Zilisch, Adam Maxwell and Thomas Annunziata lead the field in the 100cc Junior class. With Zilisch already earning an invitation courtesy of his Daytona and Orlando wins, the battle for the championship is wide open.
Alessandro Truchot leads Kai Johnson, Sarah Bradley, Kaleb Johnson and Michael Collins in the Micro ROK category with a ROK the RIO prize package on the line. While these drivers may have the upper hand heading into Orlando, a lot of points are available, and it is anyone’s championship to win.
With the 100cc Senior class and Masters ROK class not running in Orlando, the ROK the RIO prize package will come down to the driver with the highest cumulative points in the two Charlotte events for these two divisions.
This is your chance to race inside the confines of the Charlotte Motor Speedway on one of WKA’s most historic racetracks. With a fresh coat of asphalt, new curbs and a lot of the bumps removed, the first events at North America’s newest kart track will bring the heat with wheel-to-wheel action for WKA and be the home of the first WKA Mid-Season Shootout Champions.
