GTC Race and DKM enter into partnership

Sports car series awards test drive to DKM champion

Frankfurt am Main/Pfronstetten: The sports car series GTC Race and the German Kart Championship (DKM) will enter a strategic partnership from the 2023 season. The overall winner of the DKM will receive a free test day and can thus get their first taste of GT racing.

"With the cooperation with the DKM, we want to break new ground and make kart drivers aware of GTC Race. We offer the young talents the perfect introduction to GT racing," says series organizer Ralph Monschauer.

The GTC Race series is held as part of the ADAC Racing Weekend supporting programme. The focus is on GT3 and GT4 cars with top teams from national and international motorsport. In addition to the GT Sprint races, which are contested alone, there is also the one-hour GT60 powered by Pirelli race, in which you can share the cockpit with a second driver.

The promotion of young talents in GT4 since 2021 has caused quite a stir. Every 16- to 30-year-old driver in the GT4 category is automatically in the selection and has the chance of a two-year free GT3 season in the GTC Race. Champion, runner-up, best 16- to 23-year-old and one wildcard GT4 driver will be invited to a free GT3 test at the end of the season. Gold and Platinum drivers are not admitted, by the way - to give newcomers a fair chance. A jury will decide on this test day who will be the next GTC Race support driver.

Finn Zulauf and Julian Hanses are the first two support drivers to compete together in an Audi R8 LMS GT3 from Car Collection Motorsport this season. The duo has prevailed over the last two years and also started their careers in karting.

"We have created a genuine and goal-oriented promotion of young talent. Without hidden costs and without pitfalls. Only the eventual damages must be paid. With Kenneth Heyer and Dominique Schaak, we also have absolute experts on board to look after the drivers. We want to sustainably promote talents on their way," says Ralph Monschauer again.

It is important to the series that you receive a solid education and the GT4 squad is advised and trained throughout the season by the series organization. In the respective team, you receive the driver training.

Another highlight of the cooperation is the free test day for the overall winner of the DKM (OK) in Mendig. "This is also an important building block for our concept," explains Monschauer. "We first want to let the young talents drive in peace and without pressure on an airfield course. Here we have large run-out areas and no other racing cars. This has absolutely proven itself to get the driving experience with the GT4 first."

The GTC Race season will start at the Hockenheimring from 28 to 30 April 2023. A total of five race weekends with three races each will be held. Interested parties should simply drop by to already establish contacts with the series organization and teams. Ralph Monschauer will be happy to answer any questions.
