Ary’s the man! Bansal blasts to GB4 title at Donington Park

Elite Motorsport’s Ary Bansal is the 2025 GB4 champion, after a scarcely believable triple header on title decider Sunday at Donington Park.

Having finished second in race one yesterday, which closed up the title race, the young Indian started Sunday with ninth place in race two, but crucially finished ahead of main title rivals Dan Guinchard and Isaac Phelps, with all three hit by penalties.

Bansal then delivered a statement performance in race three, as he went from fourth on the grid to victory, making quick work of the drivers ahead as he claimed his fourth win of the year by over two seconds from Fortec’s Thomas Ingram Hill and KMR Sport’s Alex O’Grady.

That win put him in the championship lead for the first time all season, and left him essentially needing to be within close reach of Guinchard and Phelps to secure the title in the final race, the rescheduled Brands Hatch reverse contest. Starting from 10th on the grid, directly behind Guinchard and a place ahead of Phelps, Bansal followed Guinchard as both carved their way through the field in the early stages.

Hillspeed’s Leandro Juncos led from start to finish after taking the lead following a lap one battle with Stefan Bostandjiev. Guinchard’s progress was strong, and he was up to second late on, but Bansal was always nearby and forced his way into third, more than enough to secure the title.

Phelps ultimately finished fifth, enough to draw him level on points with Guinchard in the standings, but taking runner-up status by virtue of winning more races. Bansal’s championship-winning margin was 11-points, and he earns a £50,000 contribution towards a GB3 Championship seat in 2026.

Aside from Bansal and Juncos, the day’s other winner was Arden’s Leon Wilson, who was triumphant in the opening contest of the day ahead of Bostandjiev and teammate Ava Dobson. The maiden GB4 podium for the latter set up her charge to become the top-scoring female contender in this year’s championship, earning her a €50,000 career contribution towards an F1 Academy seat next year, should she secure a drive in the series. With Bansal taking the drivers’ honours, his Elite Motorsport squad were victorious in the Teams’ classification, with over 200 points in hand over their nearest rivals.

New champion Bansal said: “I saw that Guinchard was making moves and I just needed to go with him. Although I probably didn’t have to, I just wanted to. And also, a podium is definitely a very nice way to do it in the end. I’ve got exams next week, so I guess we’ll have celebrations and studies! I want to thank my parents and everyone at Elite Motorsport, they really worked hard to make the car fast and also just listening to my feedback, and they were able to cater the car to whatever I wanted to do. This is a very good start [to my career] in my first year in cars!”
