Three weeks after the season kick-off to the German Kart Championship in Kerpen, the highest German kart racing series took place in the Erftland again for its second event. With changed weather conditions, there were a couple of changes among the championships. The participants of the German Electric Kart Championship experienced their season kick-off. Juho Valtanen, Luca Griggs (both DKM), Kris Haanen (DJKM), Stan Pex (DSKM), Tim Tröger (DSKC) as well as Sebastian Kraft and Joel Mesch (both DEKM) finished the races as winners.

It was the big finale of the German Kart Championship this season. 149 drivers from all over the world started on the Schweppermannring in Ampfing and fought for the coveted victories in very mixed weather. After dominating the highly competitive field in the OK senior category from the beginning of the weekend at the third edition of the international German Kart Championship, Dutch driver Kas Haverkort set himself up to regain the lead in the 2019 series when he secured pole position and won both qualifying heats Saturday, to be starting on pole in Sunday’s first final. Taking P2 for a podium place was enough points to move him up to second in the standings, but a forced retirement in Race 2 ended his chance to reclaim the championship lead at the halfway mark.

The German Kart Championship travelled to the Erftland for the season half-time. On the venerable Ring in Kerpen, the ranked races five and six took place. 164 participants started and experienced thrilling races in changing weather. There were five double winners at the final races.

Last weekend, the South Garda Circuit in Italian Lonato welcomed the participants of the German Kart Championship to the first event of the year. 187 participants made for record fields in the four kart racing grade series of the German Motorsports Foundation (DMSB). The weather caused exciting races on the final Sunday.
