Great succes Rotax Nordic Championship 2009

One of the most important Championships for Rotax-Max drivers in Denmark and the Nordic Countries is ROTAX NORDIC CHAMPIONSHIP. This event was run for the fourth time and always in August – this time on the date 7 – 9 of August. The race was on Midtjydsk Karting Track, located in the middle of Jylland, Denmark. Clerk of the Course, Klavs Madsen, Steward from the ASN, Peter Thornemann and the organisation of the track made an excellent event. 120 Rotax drivers in 4 classes, Rotax Mini, Rotax Junior, Rotax Senior / Master and Rotax DD2 / Master was fighting for the trophies and the title – Rotax Nordic Champion 2009.

Rotax Mini
The favourites’ to the title in this class was Mikkel O. Pedersen / Swiss Hutless and Frederik Schandorff / Intrepid. Winner of qualifying practice was Mikkel O. Pedersen in front of Nicolaj Kandborg / MS Kart. There were no problems for Mikkel O. Pedersen in winning the qualifications heats. Pre- final was also a win to Mikkel in front of Frederik Schandorff.

The finale was set to 15 minutes. Out of the first corner Mikkel was “ only “ in third place, but on lap 2 he was back in the front and he never looked back. Deserved victory to Mikkel O. Pedersen.

Rotax Junior
Non qualifying practice showed a lot of drives, who was in the position to take the title. New driver – Emil L. Andersen / Tony Kart - in the Rotax Junior class took first place in qualifying practice in front of one of the favourites’ to the title – Martin Andersen / Swiss Hutless. Best girl diver was Sofie K. Møller in 6th place. Qualificationsheats gave victory to Emil L. Andersen and Martin Andersen.

Fast and beautifull

Winner of pre- finale was another favourite to the title – Niklas D. Knudsen / Mach1. No. 2 was Nicki E. Kristensen / Birel. Niklas D. Knudsen took the start in the finale, but after 4 laps it was Nicki E. Kristen in front of Niklas. This didn’t change and after race distance – 18 minutes –Nicki E. Kristensen crossed the finish line as Rotax Junior Champion 2009. Winner of the – Junior Ladies – was Ingvild Liseth from Norway.

Rotax Senior
The Senior class is very hard and competitive and it was difficult to predict the outcome of this Championship. Winner of qualifying practice was Nicolaj Kristensen / Mach1 in front of Morten Dons / Lenzokart. Best girl driver - Jannie Johansen was in fourth place. The qualificationsheats was won by Jeppe Nielsen, Henrik Bruun and Andreas A. Jensen. The first to qualificationsheats was in wet conditions, the third in dry conditions. The pre- finale was on slicks and Henrik Bruun / EKS was in the front on lap one in front of Gleen A. Fossen / Birel from Norway. On lap eight it was Nicolaj Kristensen in front. Halfway through the heat Morten Dons / Lenzokart was in second place, very close to the leading Nicolaj Kristensnen. Four laps before the finish line Morten Dons went through to place one and passed the finish line as winner of the prefinale.

Morten Dons took the start in the finale and he never looked back. No other driver was able to challenge him, and Morten crossed the finish line 6 seconds before number two. The battle for second place was very hard through the whole finale. The battle was between Nicolaj Kristensen / Mach1, Julian Mengers / Swiss Hutless, Rasmus Wendelboe / Spirit and Niklas V. Olsen / Maranello. The battle ended 3 laps before the finish – Julian Mengers And Niklas V. Olsen was black flagged for overtaking under yellow flag. Nicolaj Kristen was then on a safe second place. The finale was 19 very exciting minutes.

Rotax Senior Master / Heavy. This class was dominated by “ Heavy “ driver Rene Poulsen / EKS. Rene Poulsen was winner qualifying practice, pre- finale and Finale.

Rotax DD2
25 drivers to fight for the title in this class, and it were going to be very exciting. Qualifying practice was won by Frederik H. Hansen / Birel. Number three was Master DD2 driver Peter Dyhr / Crg. Qualificationheats was dominated by Dennis Ladefoged / Spirit and Rasmus Pabst / Mach1.

Rotax Euro-star Dennis Ladefoged to claim win in DD2

Pre-finale winner – Dennis Ladefoged, crossed the finish line 4 seconds in front of Jan Andreasen / Tony Kart. The finale was going to be very exciting. Dennis Ladefoged was in front in the first corner – and then it was chaos – a driver coming from the back, hit the first 4 drivers and they where of the track. On lap one Dennis Ladefoged passed the line as last of all drivers. Anders Toft / Swiss Hutless was leading, and the finale now became very exciting. Dennis Ladefoged had now stated his way up through the field. The finale was 19 minutes and the clock was ticking. On lap 22 out of 31, Dennis Ladefoged passed second placed driver Rasmus Pabst, and started to try to catch the leader – Anders Toft. And 6 laps before the finish there was a change in the front – Dennis Ladefoged was now leading and he crossed the finish line as well deserved Rotax DD2 Nordic Champion 2009. He finished 3 seconds ahead af Anders Toft. Four laps before the finish Rasmus Pabst was hit by a technical defect and out of the race.
